Position Summary:
Responsible for responding to any and all tool related issues in the General Assembly department in an automotive manufacturing environment. Identify tool
issues and correct or change out the tool. Distribute tool consumables and calibrate tools when necessary.
Essential Functions:
- Respond to line calls to investigate, troubleshoot, and resolve tool related issues in the General Assembly (GA) department.
- Install and set-up new tools at work stations ensuring the correct torque and calibration for all vehicle models.
- Calibrate tools as needed without causing downtime and ensure tool tracking software is updated to match calibration.
- Distribute tool consumable items.
- Conduct maintenance on the tools, including air tool lubrication maintenance.
- Replace click wrench batteries on the line as needed.
- Track, document, and report on line responses and issues.
- Research and replace lost or misplaced tools, notify Tool Room Specialist to ensure tool is re-ordered.
- Provide training on various tools.
- Work with Production Team Members, Tool Room Specialist, tool vendors, and auditors to ensure GA tools are working correctly.
- Administer, coordinate, and comply with all Business Management System (BMS), Environmental Management System (EMS), and Safety Management
System (SMS) requirements. - Meet all other requirements as assigned.
Position Requirements:
Education
2 year Technical degree preferred
Related Experience
2 – 4 years of job related experience preferred
Skills / Knowledge
- MS Word
- MS Excel
- MS PowerPoint
- Understanding of various tools such as air, battery, dc, pneumatic, electric, wrenches, as well as how to program them
- Mechanical ability to repair/install tools and fixtures
Additional Information:
Position may require occasional travel (domestic or foreign). Flexibility in working hours to include weekends, holidays, and off shift. Position may require on-call
duty or overtime due to overall responsibility.
