Position Summary:
Implement and maintain the Safety Management System (SMS) plant-wide. Interface with all departments and coordinate all SMS in an automotive
manufacturing environment.
Essential Functions:

• Ensure compliance of the Safety Management System with established internal control procedures by examining records, reports, operating practices, and
  documentation.
• Review, evaluate, and analyze work environments and provide recommendations for programs and procedures to control, eliminate, and prevent risk.
• Plan, prepare for, and complete SMS audits (internal and external) and audit reports by documenting results and corrective measures.
• Assess adequacies of internal control systems by completing internal audits.
• Prepare audit and control reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing operational information and trends.
• Implement continuous improvement or preventive action plans to resolve non-conformities within SMS.
• Promote cross-departmental teamwork to sustain and implement SMS.
• Train and provide direction to internal auditors.
• Communicate SMS information and targets effectively at all levels within the organization.
• Serve as interface between HMMA and external SMS service providers, such as consultants and registrar organizations.
• Support Safety Teams in all areas to identify potential safety risks.
• Administer, coordinate, and comply with all Business management System (BMS), Environmental Systems Management (EMS), and Safety Management
  System guidelines.
• Meet all other requirements as assigned.

Position Requirements:
Education:

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent preferred

Related Experience:

• 1-5 years of job related experience preferred

Skills / Knowledge:

• MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook
• SAP
• Position requires a high level of confidentiality, flexibility, and professionalism, as well as the ability to work in a team environment and to interact with all levels of management in a diverse environment.

Additional Information:
Position may require occasional travel (domestic or foreign). Flexibility in working hours to include weekends, holidays, and off shift. Position may require on-call duty or overtime due to overall responsibility.
