Position Summary:
Implement and maintain the Safety Management System (SMS) plant-wide. Interface with all departments and coordinate all SMS in an automotive
manufacturing environment.
Essential Functions:
- Ensure compliance of the Safety Management System with established internal control procedures by examining records, reports, operating practices, and
documentation. - Review, evaluate, and analyze work environments and provide recommendations for programs and procedures to control, eliminate, and prevent risk.
- Plan, prepare for, and complete SMS audits (internal and external) and audit reports by documenting results and corrective measures.
- Assess adequacies of internal control systems by completing internal audits.
- Prepare audit and control reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing operational information and trends.
- Implement continuous improvement or preventive action plans to resolve non-conformities within SMS.
- Promote cross-departmental teamwork to sustain and implement SMS.
- Train and provide direction to internal auditors.
- Communicate SMS information and targets effectively at all levels within the organization.
- Serve as interface between HMMA and external SMS service providers, such as consultants and registrar organizations.
- Support Safety Teams in all areas to identify potential safety risks.
- Administer, coordinate, and comply with all Business management System (BMS), Environmental Systems Management (EMS), and Safety Management
System guidelines. - Meet all other requirements as assigned.
Position Requirements:
Education:
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent preferred
Related Experience:
- 1-5 years of job related experience preferred
Skills / Knowledge:
- MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook
- SAP
