Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Coordinates DCHA's efforts under the Campaign for Grade Level Reading National Initiative and HUD's Book Rich Environment, as well as other programs that facilitate student readiness and success
  • Develops and implements applicable DC Connect Home activities within ORS
  • Plans, coordinates and implements all annual special campaigns and other activities, i.e. Black History Month, Back-to-School Book Bags & Supplies
  • Creates innovative Spring Break and other out-of-school time activities for children, youth and young adults living in public housing and/or HCVP households
  • Administers DCHA's annual Do Your Best Summer Youth Employment Program, as well as supervise the temporary Youth Employment Aide. Identifies and implements needed programmatic revisions, as well as expands the program to include year-round activities
  • Works, in conjunction with the Director of ORS, to ensure continuous improvement and enhancement of all existing initiatives, especially those impacting youth
  • Administers the annual Commitment to Excellence Scholarship Program
  • Develops and maintains a year-round calendar for all youth development activities and Special Initiatives
  • Works with ORS' Community Navigators, FSS Coordinators and other applicable DCHA personnel to conduct outreach and marketing of all Special Initiatives to DCHA public housing residents and HCVP participants
  • Works with ORS' Partnerships and Community Relations Coordinator to conduct outreach and marketing of all Special Initiatives to applicable onsite service providers and other community partners
  • Creates and/or confers with DCHA's Office of Public Affairs on the creation of promotional materials such as flyers, brochures, etc.
  • Works with ORS' Data Management/Compliance Specialist to ensure that goals and measurable outcomes are created and captured as it relates to implemented initiatives
  • Provides applicable reports to the Director of the Office of Resident Services, as required
  • Performs other related duties as assigned

Minimum Requirements
Education and/or Experience
Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in social work, human services, or other related field; and at least three (3) years of experience in project management and/or youth program development, or an equivalent combination of education and experience that meets the minimum qualifications requirement, may be substituted.
Must be a Microsoft Certified Systems Administrator or possess other equivalent certifications.

Technical Skills
To perform this job successfully, an individual should have average abilities using computer software such as MS Word, Excel, Outlook, etc. and should be capable of using internet resources for research and developing reports. Must be able to learn other computer software programs as required by assigned tasks.
Due to field responsibility, incumbent must possess a valid motor vehicle operator's permit; and be able to meet DCHA requirements to be placed on DCHA's approved driving list, within 30 days of the date of appointment to this position.
