The Special Event Host will be responsible for planning, implementing and supervising parties, and events as assigned, while creating a safe and positive atmosphere that promotes member safety and engagement in accordance with YMCA policies and procedures.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Provide information about birthday parties, both written and verbal.
- Sets up and cleans up birthday parties.
- Prepare appropriate number of "goodie bags" for each party.
- Hosts birthday parties and leads activities for children.
- Assist party participants with check in and ensure guests are satisfied with their
- visit.
- Responds quickly, efficiently, and professionally to any emergency situation; completes
- necessary paperwork and notifies the appropriate professional staff member.
- Assists with the general maintenance/upkeep of party areas.
- Enforces all rules and regulations promptly and professionally; notifies the appropriate
- professional on duty staff member of inappropriate behavior of facility users.
- Order food as needed.
- Be pleasant and cheerful during the party.
- Must attend all mandatory meetings and training as directed.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS/QUALIFICATIONS:
- At least 16 years of age.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Prior experience working with children is preferred.
- Excellent interpersonal skills.
- Ability to react to emergency situations within the policies and guidelines of the YMCA and in a calm and professional manner.
- Ability to work under minimal supervision and making sound decisions within the guidelines of the YMCA.
- Ability to communicate with a wide variety of members and guests in a professional manner, displaying tact and diplomacy when needed.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Sufficient strength, ability, agility and mobility to perform essential functions and to perform activities in a wide variety of indoor and outdoor locations.
