Discovery Ranch, a clinically sophisticated and relationship-based residential treatment center for boys aged 13-18, is seeking a dedicated and passionate Special Education Teacher, Secondary to join our team. At Discovery Ranch, we combine traditional and experiential therapies to promote healing for teenage boys and their families. Our program, supported by research, focuses on providing a safe environment and opportunities for growth through our exceptional campus and nationally accredited Academic Program.
As a Special Education Teacher, Secondary at Discovery Ranch, you will play a vital role in supporting our students' academic and personal growth. You will work collaboratively with a team of caring, educated, and experienced professionals to create an enriching educational experience for our students. With a focus on individualized instruction, you will provide specialized teaching methods and interventions that address the unique needs of our students.
Responsibilities
- Develop and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) for students with special needs
- Adapt instructional materials and strategies to meet the diverse learning styles and abilities of students
- Collaborate with other educators, therapists, and parents to identify and address students' academic and behavioral challenges
- Provide direct instruction in various subjects, including reading, writing, math, and science
- Utilize effective behavioral management techniques to support student engagement and maintain a positive learning environment
- Evaluate and assess student performance to track progress and inform instructional planning
- Collaborate with the broader multidisciplinary team to develop and implement strategies that support students' overall growth and development
Requirements
- Bachelor's/Master's degree in Special Education or related field
- Valid Utah state certification in Special Education, Secondary with Severe Endorsement
- Experience working with students with emotional and behavioral challenges
- Knowledge of Special Education laws and best practices
- Strong organizational and communication skills
- Ability to differentiate instruction and adapt teaching strategies to meet individual student needs
- Compassionate and patient demeanor, with a genuine desire to support students' well-being and academic success
- Ability to work collaboratively with a team of professionals to promote a comprehensive approach to education
