Special Education Teacher
JOB DESCRIPTION
Are you a builder, developer, visionary educator? ESU 7 has an opportunity for a Special Education teacher to start a new program for students with Autism and complex learners. Experience is appreciated, but we will provide training and support. Teacher will work with a team to develop and implement programming to support students.

REQUIRED RESPONSIBILITIES AND JOB TASKS:
  1. Possess strong interpersonal skills and competencies.

  1. Must have people skills including the ability to build relationships, establish trust and credibility and tailor assistance to individual students' needs.

  1. Be creative and have adaptive thinking to match teaching objectives, learning strategies, and instructional plans with students' abilities and learning modalities.

  1. Deliver instruction utilizing appropriate resources, equipment, materials, technology and instructional strategies.

  1. Provide a positive role model of appropriate and respectful interactions with students and staff.

  1. React to change productively and handle other tasks as assigned.

  1. Manage student behavior.

  1. Collect, analyze, and interpret data and utilize it to modify instruction, content and to report progress to parents and school districts.

  1. Maintain confidentiality of information concerning staff, students, and parents within all districts served.

  1. Adhere to all ESU 7 policies, rules, regulations, and supervisory directives

  1. Other duties as assigned.

REQUIRED SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
  1. Education and Training - Knowledge of principles and methods for curriculum and training design, teaching and instruction for individuals and groups, and the measurement of training effects.
  2. English Language - Knowledge of the structure and content of the English language including the meaning and spelling of words, rules of composition, and grammar.
  3. Communications and Media - Knowledge of media production, communication, and dissemination techniques and methods. This includes alternative ways to inform and entertain via written, oral, and visual media.
  4. Psychology - Knowledge of human behavior and performance; individual differences in ability, personality, and interests; learning and motivation; psychological research methods; and the assessment and treatment of behavioral and affective disorders.
  5. Coordination - Adjusting actions in relation to others' actions.
  6. Speaking - Talking to others to convey information effectively.
  7. Reading Comprehension - Understanding written sentences and paragraphs in work related documents.
  8. Writing - Communicating effectively in writing as appropriate for the needs of the audience.
  9. Social Perceptiveness - Being aware of others' reactions and understanding why they react as they do.
  10. Critical Thinking - Using logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions or approaches to problems.
