Purpose of Job
Weakley County Schools understands that the classroom teacher is the key factor in student success. The classroom teacher should plan, organize, and implement an appropriate instructional program in an elementary or secondary learning environment that guides and encourages students to fulfill their academic potential.
Primary Job Duties and Responsibilities
• Plan, prepare, and deliver lessons that align to state standards and facilitate active learning within the district curriculum.
• Develop schemes of work, assessments, and grading in accordance with established procedures
• Instruct and monitor students in the use of learning materials and equipment
• Use relevant technology to support and differentiate instruction
• Manage student behavior in the classroom by establishing and reinforcing rules and procedures
• Maintain discipline in accordance with local policy and state law
• Adhere to the Tennessee Teacher Code of Ethics
• Provide appropriate and timely feedback on student work
• Encourage and monitor the progress of individual students and use information/data to adjust teaching as needed
• Maintain accurate and complete records of student progress according to school and district policies, including IEPs
• Participate in department, school, district, and parent meetings
• Perform all duties with integrity, professionalism, and in compliance with all school, district, state, and federal laws/policies.

• Demonstrate skills and preparation in working with students from diverse cultural, economic, and ability backgrounds
• Encourage family and community engagement,
• Communicate effectively with families
• Participate in appropriate professional development and trainings
• Manage the work of educational assistants in the classroom
• Perform other duties as assigned
Education, Skills, and Abilities
• Minimum of bachelor's degree from an accredited institution
• Tennessee Teacher License/Certification in appropriate subject/grade
• Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with colleagues
• Ability to effectively communicate verbally and in writing
• Understanding of TEAM Evaluation Model
• Experience with writing IEPs
