Role: Special Education Teacher
Location: Denver, CO-80222
Position: Full Time + Benefits
Responsibilities:
- Provide one-on-one and/or small group instruction in core content areas based on each child's IEP and curriculum requirements.
- Evaluate and update students’ IEPs, BIPs, and Re-evaluations.
- Create IEP goals, progress reports, and related documentation.
- Attend and actively participate in IEP meetings.
- Coordinate discharges and transfers with referring school districts.
- Maintain student records, including attendance, report cards, progress notes, and behavior reports.
- Provide a supportive and structured educational environment for students.
- Assess children’s educational, social, and life skills competencies.
- Communicate with parents/guardians regularly.
- Collaborate with clinicians, MHTs, and Unit Manager to support behavior modification interventions.
- Maintain a teaching license in good standing.
- Adhere to all regulations and documentation requirements.
- Work with volunteers and interns as needed.
- Intervene with students in crisis.
- Follow program guidelines for physical intervention.
- Maintain a trauma-informed environment of well-being.
- Attend and actively contribute to all required team meetings and trainings.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Special Education or Education, Masters strongly preferred.
- Current Colorado Professional Teacher License with Special Education Generalist (5-21) endorsement.
- Minimum one year of experience as Special Education Teacher in an Affective Needs, Center-Based, or equivalent classroom/school.
- Experience working within a facility school program is strongly preferred.
- QMAP, CPR and First Aid Certifications within the first 60 days of employment.
- Therapeutic Crisis Intervention training within 6 months of employment.
- Knowledge or ability to learn and practice trauma-informed principles and practices.
- Ability to work with children with significant social-emotional needs.
- Ability to work with culturally diverse population.
- Ability to work with a multidisciplinary team.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills.
- Good organizational and administrative skills.
Job Type: Full-time
Salary: $70,286.16 - $72,764.78 per year
