The Stepping Stones program is in need of a Special Education Teacher. The full time Special Education Teacher will work in our Long Term Partial Hospitalization Program with children between the ages of 6 to 11. This position will work on a multi-disciplinary team with other professionals to ensure educational and therapeutic goals are met for each child.

Responsibilities/Duties
Responsibilities include:
- Screening and progress reports for students
- Development and implementation of IEP and daily lesson plans
- Ability to organize a classroom
- Ability to structure and manage a classroom
- Communicate effectively with students, staff and parents
- Conduct educational screening and evaluation of referred students
- Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings
- Responsible for providing instruction and educational diagnostic services to eligible school-aged children.
- Will interface with the school that the child is referred from for optimal interaction to return the child to the classroom when appropriate.
- Will participate in regular treatment team meetings to share information related to the functioning of the students in the classroom and all educational activities.
- Provide an appropriate educational program for each student including development and implementation of IEP.
- Maintain student records including all required paperwork and .
- Conduct ongoing assessment of student .
- Plan incorporation of supportive materials to supplement instruction.
- Communicate regularly with parents.
- Supervise the daily work of the paraprofessional staff.
- Work with other district and staff in reinforcing student development.
- Coherent educational program to students
- Communicate with, instruct; and work with students, staff and parents.
Required Experience
- Certification in Pennsylvania as a teacher or Special Education teacher
- At least one year of previous relative experience
- Prior experience working in a partial hospitalization setting is a plus.
Required Education
- Must have a Bachelors degree in Elementary Education, Special Education field of study
- Must have a teacher's certification.
Required Qualifications
- Ability to enhance or augment communication with students into building level activities and classes.
- Ability to organize a classroom
- Ability to structure and manage a classroom
- Must be able to physically demonstrate or model instruction for students.
- Must provide two (2) professional references prior to any direct contact with children.
- Must agree to complete an FBI criminal clearance, as applicable.
- Complete trainings within the first 90 days of hire.
Program Summary
Stepping Stones is the only long-term partial hospital program serving children ages 6 to 11 from the Philadelphia area with significant behavioral, emotional & traumatic histories. The program is a behavioral health program that offers individual, group and family therapy, as well as medication management with the Child Psychiatrist. Children are authorized for 12 to 18 months of services so we also function as their educational setting with classroom instruction up to 4 hours per day. We work closely with the Philadelphia School District. The program follows a modified schedule according to the Philadelphia School District for vacation and holidays and includes a seven week therapeutic summer program.
RHD employees and programs in the City of Philadelphia are required to follow the COVID vaccine mandate. Revised PDPH guidance allows for new hires to be partially vaccinated at the time of hire. This means they have received at least one shot in a two-dose series or a single dose in a one-dose series before beginning in-person shifts. The final dose must be received within4 weeks of hire (start date). This currently does not include boosters.
