Responsibilities:
- Maintain due process compliance with students on IEPs.
- Coordinate and facilitate meetings with parents, regular ed. staff, and students.
- Participate in weekly Child Study team meetings and other Special Education meetings.
- Work with Special Education staff to create schedules that meet the needs of students on IEPs.
- Collaborate with staff regarding students on caseload and assist in making appropriate modifications and accommodations.
- Serve as an advocate for students on the caseload.
- Implement the Minnesota State Standards and the District Graduation Requirements.
- Teach students the required curricula using strategies that foster thinking, reasoning, and problem-solving.
- Collaborate with peers to develop, plan, and implement best practices.
- Assess students' developmental, cognitive, and social needs and provide appropriate instruction.
- Create safe, respectful, and interesting learning environments.
- Collaborate and communicate regularly with families in making educational decisions and use family and community resources to support learning.
- Support and achieve the goals of the Minneapolis Public School District Improvement Agenda and site/school goals.
- Assess own instructional effectiveness through the Professional Development Process (PDP).
- Participate in ongoing and regular staff, team, and individual professional development.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree from an accredited university.
- Previous experience student teaching or teaching in an urban, multicultural education setting.
- Continued professional development through coursework, research, peer collaboration, and/or job-embedded staff development.
- Master's or PhD is preferred.
- A valid Minnesota teaching license in Special Education - Early Childhood or proof of pending approved licensure.

Salary: $70,029.50 - $75,000.00 per year
