Job Description

New York Center for Child Development is currently seeking several Special Education Itinerant Teachers (SEIT) to provide one to one educational services to children in their preschool environment in accordance with their IEP.

A SEIT will:

  • provide specialized individual or group instruction directly to the student; and/or
  • provide consultation to the child’s teacher to adjust the learning environment and/or modify instructional methods to meet the individual needs of a preschool student with a disability who attends an early childhood program (e.g., a regular preschool program, a day care or Head Start program).

This is a part time, fee for service position at specified preschool locations throughout Manhattan, Brooklyn, Queens, and the Bronx.

One of the Following New York State Teaching Certifications is Required:

  • NYS Teaching Certification, Permanent Special Education
  • Professional Certification Students with Disabilities (Birth-2nd Grade)
  • Initial Certification Students with Disabilities (Birth-2nd Grade)

Preferred Qualifications:

· Bilingual (Spanish) a plus but not essential
