Special Education IEP Facilitator
Position Summary:
Completes all required documentation in the development and completion of Individual Education Plans (IEPs) for students as assigned. Maintain student records and work collaboratively with other personnel to develop plans for services for students with special needs. Collaborate to provide training and support to Special Education teachers and staff in an effort to improve the district's capacity to develop quality and compliant IEPs.
Essential Duties:
  • Support Special Education teachers to ensure that timeline requirements are met for all students regarding Initial IEPs, Subsequent IEPs, Amended IEPs, Interim IEPs and re-evaluations for eligibility and maintaining appropriate documentation related to those processes.
  • Demonstrate skill in developing quality and compliant IEPs of students assigned as Teacher of Record.
  • Provide professional development opportunities for Special Education Teachers to develop their skills in developing quality and compliant IEPs.
  • Follow all district and state rules, regulations and guidance related to Special Education compliance mandates.
  • Model core organizational beliefs and values; communicate openly and effectively within and across teams to maximize student success.
  • Demonstrate effective interpersonal skills. Establish and maintain professional communication with parents, students, and district personnel; ensure that all interactions are supportive, courteous, and respectful.
  • Participate in Special Education meetings, campus committees, etc. as requested by the supervisor.
  • Maintain a supportive, positive, and professional attitude regarding all aspects of the job responsibilities, administration, and district goals.
  • Develop and maintain systems for retrieval of information in support of all programs; compile, maintain, file, and secure all physical and computerized reports, records, and other required documents.
  • Pursue professional development activities ensuring that professional development activities are aligned with district goals and initiatives and current professional research.
  • Maintain confidentiality.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills and/or Abilities):
  • Bachelor's Degree.
  • Valid Oklahoma Special Education Teacher certificate or appropriate Related Service licensure.
  • Minimum of Three (3) years successful Special Education teaching or related services field experience.
  • Must possess the ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing.
  • Must possess the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, staff, parents, and the community.
  • Ability to work cooperatively and collaboratively with others, demonstrate self-discipline and initiative, follow state and district guidelines.
  • Skills in mediation and facilitation of group and/or individual problems to resolution.

Preferred Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills and/or Abilities):
  • Master's Degree in Special Education.

*Relevant experience may be substituted for formal education at a 2:1 ratio. Therefore for every 1 year of college lacking, 2 years of directly relevant experience may be substituted.
Physical/Mental Requirements:
  • Must have adequate manual dexterity to write legibly and perform required duties on the computer.
  • Must have adequate visual acuity to read, interpret and transcribe written material and other required duties.
  • Requires normal range of hearing and clear speaking abilities to interact appropriately with others in person and on the telephone.
  • Requires some stooping, bending, stretching and occasional lifting not to exceed 25 pounds.
  • Sitting for prolonged periods of time.
  • May periodically require work outside of normal business hours, including weekends, under sometimes. stressful conditions in order to meet business needs and strict deadlines.

Work Environment:
  • Office duties will be performed in a well-lighted, climate controlled environment.
