POSITION: Special Education Teacher
REPORTS TO: Principal
POSITION TYPE: 10-month
COMPENSATION: $60,000

THE ROLE
When you join the YES Prep team, some of the exciting work and responsibilities will include:
  • Support the district's Special Education goals, objectives, operational procedure, and serve as a liaison between the home office and campus staff
  • Work with School Director and Special Education Supervisors to develop action plans for constant learning and growth
  • Work with General Education staff to identify areas of academic need for students and appropriate targeted instruction
  • Assist in planning and delivering instructional training modules and staff development workshops to all teachers at the campus and within the district
  • Attend professional development to remain current with federal and state Special Education guidelines
  • Supervise the implementation of district and state assessments for Special Education students
  • Identification of students receiving Special Education services and request/forward records on all Special Education students
  • Prepare / conduct ARD/IEP meetings according to state and federal guidelines
  • Identify specific individual student needs and work with campus teachers to accommodate, modify or create materials as necessary
  • Plan and deliver engaging, rigorous lessons, according to students' needs and the provided curriculum, where applicable
  • Chaperone local and out-of-state field lessons, including but not limited to student Spring Trips
  • Conduct morning, lunch, and afternoon duties during assigned times
  • Provide personal care services for students as needed
  • Additional duties as assigned

THE MUST HAVES
  • Bachelor's Degree from a regionally accredited four-year educational institution
  • Texas Educator Certification
  • Strong knowledge of internet and web-related technology
  • Ability to instruct students using a variety of technology applications and platforms

  • Openness to giving and receiving frequent feedback
  • Ability to maintain emotional control under stress

THE PERKS
  • Compensation - This position is an exempt, salaried position; salary offers commensurate with experience. The starting salary for a first-year teacher is $58,000.

  • Health and Supplemental Insurance - A $10 monthly medical option that includes $600 towards a Health Savings Account, in addition to a variety of supplemental benefits including Dental, Vision, Disability, Life, etc. Employees must work 20+ hours a week to be eligible for a full spectrum of benefits, and 10 hours a week minimum for medical benefits.

  • Retirement Plans - Participation in Teacher Retirement System of Texas and a 457 Retirement Plan.

  • Paid Time Off - Employees working 20+ hours a week receive 10 days of Paid Time Off in addition to the system closures during the Academic Calendar.

Please note, part-time hourly employees (working fewer than 40 hours/week) do not receive pay during system closures. Additionally, 10- and 11-month hourly employees do not receive pay during the months in which they are not working.
  • Paid Leave Programming - In the event you need to be out due to medical needs (including maternity and paternity leave), YES Prep offers paid leave, paid out at 100%, based on eligibility and tenure.
