SUMMARY
Responsible for the issuance and proper collection of tickets to passengers while providing excellent customer service and assistance as needed.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Responsibilities may include but are not limited to:
-Inspect tickets and transportation methods to ensure proper collection, making recommendations to protect revenue and meet operating standards.
-Perform transportation tests to verify compliance with transportation procedures.
-Provide customer, station, and train information used for analysis of transportation needs.
-Develop, coordinate, and implement projects and programs as assigned.
-Supervise gating programs at various stations.
-Perform other related duties as assigned by supervisor.
-During times of manpower shortages, Special duty Conductors may be required to temporarily return to their craft until manpower conditions improve.
QUALIFICATIONS:
-Must be fully qualified as a Conductor.
-Must possess detailed knowledge of tickets and ticket collections with emphasis on passenger operations.
-Must possess ability to demonstrate effective interpersonal skills and oral and written communication skills, as well as problem-solving and judgment skills.
-Must be proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
OTHER INFORMATION
In addition to meeting the minimum requirements of the position, the selection process may include, but is not limited to, a pre-screening assessment (i.e. physical, written and/or practical evaluation) and interview. Candidates forfeit further consideration in the process if they fail to participate in any step of the process when scheduled. Make up dates/times will not be given. In addition, LIRR employee applicants must be in their current position for the 12 months immediately preceding the close date of this posting and must possess a satisfactory work history, including attendance and discipline record. A record of ten or more sick days without medical documentation in two of the last three years is considered unsatisfactory attendance. Not all qualified applicants are guaranteed an interview due to the competitive selection process. A medical examination and safety sensitive drug/alcohol test may also be required.
