Job Title: Specialist, Mechanical Engineering (Active Secret Required) Job Code: SAS20232310-107408 Job Location: Plano, TX (On-site) Job Schedule: 9/80: Employees work 9 out of every 14 days - totaling 80 hours worked - and have every other Friday off. Job Description: This Specialist, Mechanical Engineering role will work across a broad range of disciplines with an emphasis on product design and development, analysis, and testing as they relate to missile and weapon systems. Primary responsibilities for this role include mechanical design, technology research, interface definition, trade studies and component selection, CAD modeling of complex systems, and documentation in support of the Strategic Programs business area.

The Agile Development Group (ADG) division is part of L3Harris' Advanced Combat Systems and specializes in developing disruptive, next-generation technologies for advanced radar systems and next-generation weapon systems, using small company agility combined with large company experience and resources. Essential Functions: Mechanical design tasks such as requirements analysis, interface definition, component selection, 3D CAD modeling of components and subsystems, product documentation, and product validation Ensure the fit, functionality and producibility of original designs.

Conceptualize designs to provide solutions to complex mechanical challenges. Structural design of missile airframe components and mechanical packaging of electro-mechanical subsystems Electronics packaging design for high density CCAs and high-power RF systems Responsible for technical, schedule and cost of components or subsystems Develop test plans, hardware, fixtures, and procedures for subsystem testing. Conduct peer reviews of designs, and support PDR/CDR reviews.

Participate in interdisciplinary teams through spiral hardware development cycles. Interface with external suppliers and purchasing to support hardware procurement and manufacturing. Provide engineering guidance and direction to CAD designers from conceptual design through release of Technical Data Package Perform trade studies for component selection and major design decisions.

Ability to obtain and maintain any additional clearances as required. Physical Requirements: ability to lift to 10 lbs. Up to 10% travel may be required.

Other duties as required. Qualifications: Active Secret DoD clearance with current 5-year update. Bachelor's Degree and minimum 4 years of prior relevant experience.

Graduate Degree and a minimum of 2 years of prior related experience. In lieu of a degree, minimum of 8 years of prior related experience. Experience using ASME Y14.5 geometric dimensioning and tolerancing.

Knowledge of common manufacturing processes as they relate to part design. Experienced in the use of 3D CAD modeling using Creo and/or Solidworks. Preferred Additional Skills: Experience in design for and testing to military environments (i.e., temperature, vibration, shock, etc.) Missile or launch system design experience (high speed airframe and structural design).

Design of thermal management solutions for high-power electronics systems. Experience with TDP release and maintenance using Windchill PDM system. Test fixture design and verification testing experience.

Experience with ANSYS. Strong problem solver with aptitude for creative design solutions Excellent people skills to include collaborating in a multi-disciplinary, diverse, and dynamic team environment. Excellent communication skills (written, verbal, & presentation).
