Job description

Company and Mission:
Skill Struck is a K-12 computer science advocate and curriculum provider. In dozens of schools across states in the U.S., we are making education more equitable and available to students.

A huge part of this mission is bringing our curriculum to different languages, like Spanish. For the past few years, we have been translating all of our course material into the Spanish language, and we need some help as we add more curriculum and scale into more schools with English Language Learner students!

And that's where our new Spanish Translation Analyst (Contractor) can come in.

Job Details:
The Spanish Translation Analyst is a part time, fully remote contractor position tasked with assisting the Skill Struck curriculum team with the translation of all new curriculum and lessons. Ideally, you'll work 10-15 hours per week or even more, depending on your bandwidth. You can pick and choose when you want to work those hours. We only ask that you provide us with a consistent, reliable, schedule in which you’ll complete your work.

Skill Struck curriculum is pre-translated by an advanced Google Translation Software, so it's the task of the translation analyst to review all new translations and ensure their accuracy and correct formatting. This means that you will not be translating from scratch, but will be reviewing translations previously made by Google. These translations have around a 70-90% accuracy, and there are often few edits to be made.

This position is fully remote, so you can work from anywhere! The only thing that you will need is a functioning laptop or computer and a web browser. Our proprietary translation software is browser-based and can be accessed via Google Chrome, Safari, and other common web browsers.

Training:
We'll offer paid training to use Skill Struck's translation software and we'll provide a word bank to use as reference for technical terms used in the curriculum. The curriculum is based on computer science and programming, so this bank will be useful for you.

Your Qualities:
  • Driven, self-starter
  • Spanish Fluency: Reading and Writing
  • Ability to learn quickly
  • Computer proficiency (Specifically with web browsers like Google Chrome)

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Translation Experience
  • Exposure to Computer Science principles and vocabulary
  • As for a start date, we're looking to hire someone ASAP!
  • Pay is $12-14 per hour, depending on experience and skill.
