Spanish Language Media Relations Specialist Term
College Board – Communications & Marketing
Location: This is a fully remote role. Candidates who live near CB offices have the option of being fully remote or hybrid (Tuesday and Wednesday in office).
Type: This is a full-time term position that will last for 2 years from the start date; with the option to convert to an indeterminate full-time role depending upon business need at that time.

About the Team
The Communications and Marketing (CM) team is responsible for overseeing the organization’s communications and marketing efforts to grow the organization’s three highest priority areas: AP, SAT Suite, and BigFuture. Communications is a close-knit, dedicated team of 25+ individuals with a successful track record of promoting the work of College Board to a wide range of audiences including students, parents, educators, policymakers, the media, member organizations and staff.

About the Opportunity

College Board Media Relations is seeking a Media Relations and Communications Specialist in a full-time contractor position to help build out the organization’s media and publication relations strategy for key Spanish-Language Media outlets to ensure key messages are delivered to important audiences. This is a brand new role and offers the opportunity for you to become a trailblazer and set your own path to success.

As Spanish-Language Media Specialist, you will have the exciting opportunity to work across of College Board’s key programs, including, Advanced Placement, the SAT suite, BigFuture, College Boards, career and college planning platform. The goal is to ensure the right media opportunities are pursued at the right time, reach key stakeholders via Spanish-Language Media and growing awareness and adoption of College Board services and solutions.

In this position you will be the primary owner of execution of Spanish media strategies working across College Board programs and in close collaboration with Media Relations colleagues as well as strategic program communications leads within the team.

The position requires expert native speaker fluency in spoken and written Spanish, and the ability to serve as College Boards spokesperson with Spanish Language Media outlets.

In this role, you will:

Create, execute and improve Spanish-Language Media Strategy (60 percent)
  • Identify opportunities for College Board to pro-actively share and promote college readiness and planning programs to Spanish-language audiences.
  • Influence diverse teams to create and maintain relevant content for Spanish-speaking audiences.
  • Work with broader Communications team and Creative teams to create foundational College Board material for Spanish-speaking audiences i.e. fact sheets, brochures, etc.
  • Collaborate with program strategic communications leads, program subject-matter experts and broader Media Relations team.
  • Collaborate with the Latin American (LATAM) to develop media and foundational material to support outreach and engagement efforts

Support overall Media Relations operations, analysis and measurement. (40 percent)
  • Support media monitoring and analytics measurement
  • Collect meaningful metrics for media engagement and impact

About You
  • You are bilingual and have native speaker fluency in both Spanish and English
  • You have at least 5 years’ full-time experience in communications and marketing, with proven track record in media placement with Spanish-language outlets.
  • Willingness and ability to travel at least 15%
  • You are skilled at building meaningful relationships with a variety of personalities and stakeholders
  • You have impeccable writing skills and a passion for learning, understanding, and distilling and communicating complex information in ways that engage a wide variety of stakeholders
  • You have demonstrated experience managing complex, high stakes projects on tight deadlines, working both independently and collaboratively
  • You can leverage multiple channels to communicate clearly and compellingly and know how to target your presentation style, written or oral, to different audiences
  • You are a self-starter that thrives in fast-paced environments managing challenging, complex tasks
  • You are authorized to work in the US for any employer

About Our Process

The hiring range for a new employee in this position is $52,000 to $95,000. College Board differentiates salaries by location so where you live will narrow the portion of this range in which you can expect a salary.
