SAIC has a funded need for a Space Protection Operations Engineer to fill a key position supporting a Government Intelligence Community (IC) customer charged with delivering solutions across a range of rapidly expanding and complex space and ground system initiatives. The Space Protection Operations Engineer is a member of a team of high-performing mission, operations, and system engineers directly supporting the Government to develop, deploy, and evolve a state-of-the-art ground software system. This position serves on-site with the Government customer located in Chantilly, VA.

Responsibilities will include but are not limited to:

  • Primary subject matter expert for Space Protection mission operations support to mission managers and deployment engineers
  • Elicit system capability needs and user interface/experience (UI/UX) preferences from operational users
  • Collaborate with software developers to inform/guide mission application enhancements
  • Manage the transition of new capabilities and software deliveries to operations
  • Lead the review and coordination of system documentation and training materials
  • Evaluate developer solutions, guide software deployment activities, and assess software patches/fixes

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • Must possess an active TS/SCI clearance with Polygraph
  • Bachelor’s degree and nine (9) years’ experience in space system operations, software deployment, or other space-related engineering or operations domains; OR Master’s degree and seven (7) years’ experience (additional experience may be considered in lieu of degree)
  • Experience transitioning new capabilities/software deployments to operations in a 24/7 operations center and managing mission operations opportunities, challenges, and risks
  • Experience in space mission operations
  • Knowledge of agile software development principles

 Desired Qualifications:

  • Experience supporting the NRO
  • Experience with Space Domain Awareness
  • Experience authoring operator-related or software deployment documentation
  • Experience applying software deployment principles within IC, DoD, or commercial programs
