Space Debris Management(Junior/Journeyman)

CSEngineering is looking to add Space Debris Management experts (Junior through Journeyman level) to our growing team! The positions will support the US Space Force, Space Systems Command in Space Operations and Systems Engineering. Developing, reviewing, and providing expert technical advice to Space Debris Assessment Reports (SDARs), End of Life Plans (EOLPs), and other Space Debris-related safety documentation. Facilitating Space Debris technical meetings and working groups. Supporting the development of Space Debris tools, policies, guidance, and strategies.


JOB RESPONSIBILITIES


Assist SSC with policy and guidance in this area of growing importance to support the SSC Space Debris Management Office:


  • Developing, reviewing, and providing expert technical advice to Space Debris Assessment Reports (SDARs), End of Life Plans (EOLPs), and other Space Debris related safety documentation.
  • Facilitating Space Debris technical meetings and working groups.
  • Supporting the development of Space Debris tools, policies, guidance, and strategies.
  • Conducting AoAs to assess design solution alternatives, facilitates cooperation among stakeholders to define technology applications.
  • Develops CONOPS and TTPs.
  • Conducts engineering studies.
  • Develops the Systems Engineering Management Plan.
  • Provides analysis to support reviews such as SRR and SFR, and performs engineering functions in support of experimentation, integration and operations.
  • Maintains operational efficiency of systems while configuring networks.
  • Performing hardware deployments, and
  • Implementing software according to engineering plans.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS


Security Clearance: Current Top Secret or TS/SCI or TS/SCI eligible

  • 3+ years (Junior) or 5-10 years (Journeyman) of technical experience developing and reviewing Space Debris Assessment Reports (SDARs), End of Life Plans (EOLPs), and other Space Debris-related safety documentation.
  • Bachelor's degree in Aerospace engineering, Systems Engineering, Space Systems Engineering, Mechanical Engineering with Aerospace Concentration, Electrical Engineering with Space Systems Focus, Computer Science with Space Systems Applications.

Preferred Certifications and Qualifications:


  • Master's degree in Aerospace Engineering, Systems Engineering, Space Systems Engineering, Mechanical Engineering with Aerospace Concentration, Electrical Engineering with Space Systems Focus, Computer Science with Space Systems Applications is a plus.
  • Certifications in the following are a plus:
    • Certified Space Operations Professional (CSOP) in space operations, including Space Debris Management.
    • Certified Systems Engineering Professional (CSEP) in developing and assessing space systems and debris-related documentation.
  • Familiarity and experience with the following tools and technologies are a plus:
  • Orbital Analysis Software analyzing and predicting the orbits of space objects (e.g., Systems Tool Kit (STK), Analytical Graphics, Inc. (AGI) software.
  • Space Debris Modeling Tools that model Space Debris and assess the potential impact on space systems (e.g., debris flux models and collision probability).
  • Simulation and Modeling Tools to simulate space scenarios and developing and testing Space Debris mitigation strategies.
  • Data Analysis Tools in Space Debris, orbital dynamics, and space situational awareness.
  • Risk Assessment Tools in space operations, including assessing the risks associated with Space Debris.
  • Space Policy and Regulatory Compliance familiarity with space policies, regulations, and guidelines set by organizations such as NASA, the U.S. Space Command, and international bodies.
