About Company: Southern Illinois Crankshaft, Inc. was established in 1985 by Michael Schaefer in a small building located in southern Illinois. In his shop, Michael started by regrinding crankshafts and with his proven dedication and customer service, his company soon grew. After eight years, the company built a new 7600 square foot building in Red Bud, Illinois.
With an extremely dedicated and talented staff, the company bolstered their operations by expanding their capabilities to manufacture crankshafts in house.
In the last four years, the company has expanded their facilities by almost 23,000 square feet. Investments in modern technology along with a long-time staff of excellent and well-seasoned machinists, Southern Illinois Crankshaft has continued to flourish.
Requirements
Job Summary: As a Programmer and Multi-Axis Mill-turn Operator, you will play a critical role in the production process, responsible for programming and operating multi-axis mill-turn machines to produce precision components. You will work closely with our engineering and production teams to ensure the efficient and accurate manufacture of parts to meet customer specifications.
Key Responsibilities:

  • Programming:
    • Create and optimize CNC programs for multi-axis mill-turn machines using CAM software.
    • Interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and customer requirements to develop efficient machining processes.
    • Continuously improve and update programs for enhanced efficiency and quality.
  • Machine Setup and Operation:
    • Set up and configure multi-axis mill-turn machines, including tooling, fixtures, and workholding.
    • Operate machines to produce complex components with precision and accuracy.
    • Monitor machine performance, make adjustments as necessary, and troubleshoot issues during production.
  • Quality Control:
    • Conduct in-process and final inspection of machined components to ensure they meet quality standards and specifications.
    • Implement quality control measures and make adjustments to machining processes as needed.
  • Safety and Maintenance:
    • Follow safety protocols and maintain a clean and organized work environment.
    • Perform routine maintenance on machines to ensure their optimal functioning.
  • Documentation:
    • Maintain accurate records of CNC programs, machine settings, and production data.
    • Generate reports and documentation as required by quality control procedures.

Qualifications:
  • 5 years machining or machine shop experience required, preferred multis-axis mill-turn.
  • Experienced in CNC programming; Mastercam and Okuma machine programming experience preferred.
  • Strong mechanical and technical aptitude
  • Two-year degree in manufacturing engineering or equivalent preferred
  • Ability to demonstrate knowledge and application of machine tool products, options, and functions.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work collaboratively with a team.
  • Basic familiarity of Microsoft's Office products.
  • Knowledge of materials and their machining characteristics.
  • Strong knowledge of blueprint reading and interpretation.
  • Good understanding of GD&T.
