GENERAL ASSISTANCE CASEWORK

Job Overview:

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate individual to join our team as a Case Worker. As a Case Worker, you will play a crucial role in providing support and assistance to individuals and families in need. This is a rewarding opportunity to make a positive impact on the lives of others.

Under the direction of the Township Supervisor, the General Assistance Caseworker shall possess full and complete knowledge of the laws and rules pertaining to the General and Emergency Assistance Program and work collaboratively with the Supervisor on all cases. Assist with office duties when necessary. This position requires the ability to work independently, exercising judgment and initiative. 30 hours per week.

Duties/Responsibilities:

- Conduct intake, assessments, and interviews to determine client needs and eligibility for Township services

- Investigate validity of information presented with EA/GA applications

- Collaborate with other professionals, such as social workers and healthcare providers, to coordinate services

- Monitor client progress and make necessary adjustments to care plans

- Maintain accurate and up-to-date case records for General Assistance

- Document all interviews, phone contacts, and written correspondence for each applicant/client

- Determine eligibility of each applicant following the General Assistance Guidebook

- Prepare vouchers and request payment forms to ensure accurate and timely payments

- Prepare application packets

- Maintain positive working relationship with vendors utilized by our clients

- Act as an information resource for assistance organizations in the community to collectively serve the residents of the Township

- Manage and maintain Community Work Program and Work Readiness Program

- Advocate for clients' rights and ensure their needs are met

- Answer phone and filing

Experience:

- Familiarity with working with people with developmental disabilities is a plus

- Strong understanding of social work principles and practices

- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

- Ability to work effectively in a team environment

- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
