Job Overview
We are looking for a Nurse Practitioner licensed and DEA certified in South Carolina.
The Nurse Practitioner applies professional psychiatric evaluation, medication prescription, and nursing care to a variety of adult patients with substance use disorders. The NP gains the cooperation of patients, keeps accurate charts and records, conducts psychosocial assessments, establishes psychiatric diagnoses, and evaluates diagnostic tests. The NP is responsible for providing outpatient care to patients.
Responsibilities
- Responsible for providing outpatient care to patients, including History & Physical upon admission, assessment of chronic or urgent medical conditions, medication orders for detox protocol, initiating medication assisted treatment for alcohol or opiate use disordered patients
- Work independently with other members of the medical team, with entitlements to specific responsibilities by the Medical Director
- Take part in an interdisciplinary team that provides care to patients
- Perform medical evaluations, risk factor assessment and analysis, ordering of therapeutic and diagnostic tests; and attend to consultations and appointments
- Prescribe medications following the clinic’s policy, formulary, and relevant regulations of the State
- Consult with physicians on cases that are beyond the scope of qualification of Advanced Practice Nurse
- Put all relevant patient data in electronic medical record and case presentations
- Ensure smooth communication with other health professionals for effective delivering of clinic service to patients
- Provide services on site or via telehealth where required
- Ensures practice of care is consistent with TJC, CARF, HIPPA, VA policies and procedures, clinical practice guidelines, national statutes and regulations, medical record documentation, and mandatory continuing education.
- Provides a full range of psycho-diagnostic services including assessment and the most appropriate psychotherapeutic techniques in providing quality care.
- Educate and counsel patients/families including health promotion and disease prevention
- Identifies and promotes professional development and mentorship opportunities for self and other nursing colleagues.
- Leads and promotes customer service at the program, service levels, and models excellence in customer service through own actions.

Qualifications/Requirements
- South Carolina - Psychiatric/Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (NP) or Physician Assistant (PA) (Board Certified). Current NP & RN license required for NP or current PA license required (Multi State) DEA license (Multi State) and CPR certification required. Preferred completion of advanced pharmacology course, including II controlled substances required. X-waivered license or proof of training (for MAT Prescribing)
- Minimum 2 years of clinical experience in substance use disorders
- Negative TB Results
