The award-winning Area Stage theatre company is currently seeking an experienced Sound Designer for upcoming theatrical productions. Area Stage is a fast-paced non-profit organization with the pursuit of excellence at its forefront. The individual must be self-motivated with a team-mentality. Must have prior experience in sound design for live performances.
- Set up speakers and sound system.
- System programming, tuning, and optimization.
- Prepare soundboards and equipment for shows as well as maintain the quality of sound throughout a performance.
- Set up and manage microphones.
- May run sound for performances.
- Repair and report sound equipment issues.
A background in theatre is preferred.
Proficiency with sound equipment and software used in theatrical productions.
- Knowledge of sound mixing consoles, digital audio, microphones, speakers, and audio editing software.
- An understanding of acoustic principles and sound behavior in different environments.
- Knowledge of room acoustics as well as techniques for minimizing feedback and unwanted noise.
- Must be able to troubleshoot issues with equipment, acoustics, or sound cues during rehearsals and performances.
- Precision and attention to detail.
- Ability to communicate in English.
- Must have a reliable, self-dependent form of transportation.
