Sonographer

Organization/Position:  

We are a portable Ultrasound company based on Long Island, NY looking for a full-time sonographer/ultrasound technologist in the NYC area to primarily service Queens and Brooklyn doctors’ offices.  

Job Summary:  

The Sonographer will use ultrasonic equipment to produce images of internal organs and structures for use in diagnosing medical conditions. They will also communicate with doctors’ office staff, patients, explain procedures, and prepare patients for examinations. 

Key Responsibilities: 

• Operate ultrasonic equipment to produce images of the body's internal structures 

• Communicate with patients, explain procedures, and prepare patients for examinations 

• Review and evaluate images to ensure they are of diagnostic quality 

• Maintain accurate patient records and ensure that all necessary information is included in patients’ files 

• Keep abreast of new developments in ultrasound technology and techniques 

• Follow all safety procedures and maintain a clean and organized work environment 

• Complete continuing education courses to maintain certification and stay current in the field 

Requirements: 

• National registry/certification (ARDMS, ARRT, and/or CCI) 

• 2 years of sonography experience after graduating from an accredited sonography program 

• Able to perform general, vascular, and cardiac ultrasound 

• Valid driver license and vehicle 

• Strong written and verbal communication; able to get along with personnel in various office settings

• Strong technical skills and knowledge of ultrasound equipment and techniques 

• Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills 

• Ability to work independently and as part of a team 

• Ability to maintain accurate and detailed patient records 

• Strong customer service skills 

• Ability to maintain patient privacy and confidentiality 

• Knowledge of the medical field, anatomy and physiology 

• Strong comprehension of sonography and image analysis. 

Physical Demands: 

• Sitting or standing for long periods of time 

• Frequently required to reach with hands and arms 

• Occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds 

Salary: 

• Negotiable based on experience and qualifications.
