Job description

GENERAL DESCRIPTION

The Development Project Manager - Solar DG will support the development of solar and storage projects under 20M W AC throughout the United States. This is a fast-paced and multi-faceted role facing multiple internal and external stakeholders and provides exposure to commercial matters.

Main Accountabilities:

  • Manage all aspects of solarproject development including review of regulatory, environmental, real estate, technical andinterconnectiondue diligence for projects under 20MW AC
  • Conduct due diligence and project analysis for PV solar rooftop and ground-mounted projects in various states.
  • Produce preliminary feasibility reports, including permit road map, development budget, schedule and risk analysis
  • Coordinatewith engineering, finance, legal, and construction to ensureefficient and compliantdevelopment of solar projects
  • Manage consultants, external stakeholders and developers and other third parties to ensure project success
  • Supportas neededin the structuring, negotiating, and closingofland agreementsandtax agreements
  • Manage budgets, milestones, schedules, and deliverables for development projects
  • Review and manage application efforts to various solar incentive programs
  • Ensure development activities are in compliance with federal, state, and local regulations
  • Work with the development team to problem solve around various development issues to bring projects tosuccessfulcommercial operation
  • Identify high-level key project, interconnection and accessconstraints
  • Review permit applications and permit requirements, and associated impacts to the project


Direct reports: 1 direct reports; 1 - 5 indirect reports; multiple third-party consultants/contractors

Travel: As needed

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 5 years managing the development of multiple solar energy projects simultaneously
  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Economics, Engineering, Environmental Science or related field (Advanced degree a plus)
  • Deep knowledge of navigating site development activities including, but not limited to, utility interconnection, legal real estate matters, environmental and land use permitting
  • Familiarity with the design and components that comprise a PV system
  • Demonstrated success in developing solar PV projects through the full project development lifecycle
  • Financial planning, budgeting, organizational and resource management skills
  • Strong ability to prioritize tasks, manage competing deadlines, and achieve goals in a timely fashion, and effectively manage a variety of project stakeholders
  • Exceptional ability in analytical problem solving and strong communication skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office software products

Physical Demands & Working Conditions:

  • Sitting/Standing/Flexibility: Ability to stand and sit for 8 or more hours when in an office environment
  • Speech/Reading: Ability to speak, read, and write English proficiently and deliver a variety of instructions furnished in written, verbal, diagram, or schedule form
  • Lifting: Ability to lift items weighing up to 10 pounds
  • Vision/Hearing: Ability to understand a variety of instructions furnished in written, verbal, diagram, or schedule form
  • Safety: Ability to understand and communicate safety precautions when necessary
