YOU

As a Software Technical TrainerTruss Applications, you will be responsible for leading and participating in the development of the Simpson Strong-Tie Integrated Component Solutions (ICS) software training curriculum and programs. Designs, conducts, facilitates, and evaluates software training programs delivered to both internal and external customers.

WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING (% of Time)

Drives new initiatives for digital implementation around webinars, eLearning, and LMS. Creates new or revises existing training programs by researching systems and software functionality, authoring participant and facilitator training materials, designing instructions, practice, and other learning activities, and developing other support materials, including LMS content, PowerPoint presentations, audiovisuals, graphics, job aids, and other documents. (50%)

Conducts and facilitates software training programs by making appropriate travel arrangements, prepares and packages participant and facilitator materials, coordinates the registration and setup process, updates, and revises training programs to ensure curriculum meets the training needs of the customer. (20%)

Acts as a performance improvement resource to internal resources by following up to provide individual coaching and one-on-one or group training, conducts remedial and refresher training, and suggests education and training alternatives, and options based on specific situations. (10%)

Evaluates and reports on training program effectiveness by developing pre- and post-tests, surveys, and/or other methods and tools to assess learner understanding, and by reviewing other Company reports to link training to overall performance and results. (10%)

Works with customers, vendors, contractors, and other business partners to support software use and implementation. (10%)

DESIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

If you can do everything listed above, you’ve got what it takes. Perhaps some of the following would be helpful too:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in a related field required, preferably in Education/Training, Design/Drafting, Architecture, Engineering or another technology-focused field, or equivalent experience within the industry.
  • 3 years’ experience with design and engineering of wood trusses along with experience in EWP.
  • Understanding of wood framed construction practices and details a plus.
  • Knowledge of Provincial and National building codes a plus.
  • 2 years’ experience creating and conducting software training courses.
  • Advanced Communication Skills: Ability to write in a clear, concise, organized, and convincing manner for the intended audience. Ability to effectively present information to groups of managers, team members and customers.
  • Public Speaking: Extremely comfortable speaking in front of an audience.
  • Teamwork: Ability to build and sustain cooperative working relationships.
  • Organization: The ability to arrange resources to get things done; can orchestrate multiple activities at once to accomplish a goal; uses resources effectively and efficiently; arranges information and files in a useful manner.
  • Problem Solving: Ability to identify the information needed to solve problems effectively.
  • Composure: Ability to stay calm and in control in tense or frustrating situations.
  • Customer Focus: Ability to cultivate relationships that secure commitment and trust with external and internal customer needs.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

This job operates in a professional office environment where standard office equipment such as computers, phones, printers/scanners, etc. are frequently used.

Travel

This position requires domestic and international travel up to 15% of the time.

This full-time, exempt position is in Lafayette, IN. Open to Remote (US).

Pay

$63,500 - $82,500 / year

  • Posted pay range is based upon national average and may vary depending on geographical work location.
