Job Description
The Countermeasure and Electromagnetic Attack Solutions (CEMA) business area is looking for a Software Section lead who is passionate about managing within the software engineering discipline, has a desire to mentor other engineers to help them grow in their careers and who can partner with other members of the engineering leadership team to attract and retain talented engineers.
In your role, you will work closely with other leaders across the CEMA Electronic Attack Solutions product line and provide hands-on leadership, mentoring and guidance to a talented and diverse group of software engineers. You will be an active member of the CEMA Software Engineering leadership team, shaping the CEMA software engineering culture and process and ensuring that staffing and technical needs of the business area are met.
The successful candidate will have prior experience with software development, software estimation and project management, and leading teams of software professionals. Additional duties are as follows:
  • Directly managing the software development on a project or a portfolio of projects
  • Supervising a staff of approximately 12-18 Software Engineers.
  • Working with the business area leadership team to ensure staff resources have the right skills to support program needs.
  • Provide mentorship to direct reports and take ownership of their performance, engagement and career development.
  • Responsible for conducting performance evaluations for appraisal cycle.

Required Education, Experience, & Skills
Bachelor's Degree and 10 years work experience or equivalent experience. Demonstrated Software Technical and Managerial leadership experience of teams of at least 8 engineers. Ability to provide technical mentorship for both junior and experienced software engineers
Preferred Education, Experience, & Skills
Experience leading teams with Agile Software development approaches such as Scrum
Experience with Linux, Windows, Real-time operating systems.
Experience managing projects utilizing Earned Value Measurement System (EVMS) in a DoD environment
Expert level understanding of JIRA, Bitbucket, Git
Pay Information
Full-Time Salary Range: $136620 - $232210
Please note: This range is based on our market pay structures. However, individual salaries are determined by a variety of factors including, but not limited to: business considerations, local market conditions, and internal equity, as well as candidate qualifications, such as skills, education, and experience.
