Software Quality Engineer
1st Shift
* This position is not remote

Summary:
As the Software Quality Engineer, you will be responsible for evaluating software functions and designing test protocols to ensure that products work as intended after the development phase. Partnering with the Project Manager and Business
Requirements Analyst ensuring the test planning is driven by the requirements. You will also be responsible for completing all testing procedures, collaborating, and managing user acceptance testing with customers/end users, suggesting
performance changes, and preparing performance reports for the development team, managers, and project teams.
To ensure success as a Software Quality Engineer, you should have advanced knowledge of software design and engineering, a good eye for detail, and a natural gift for software troubleshooting. A skilled Software Quality Engineer
should be able to identify even the smallest flaw in software designs and suggest simple yet effective fixes.
Essential Functions or Responsibilities:
• Collaborate with project managers and project sponsors to deliver functional requirements for medium to large scale projects
• Creating testing procedures to evaluate the performance of the software
• Building software testing programs that automate testing processes
• Running the software testing procedures to evaluate the software
• Documenting all testing procedures
• Reporting bugs and making recommendations to improve the software product
• Collaborating with other Requirements Analyst, Software Developers, and other team members
• Working within teams to develop software that supports business needs
• Designing plans, procedures, and scripts to test and evaluate software
• Using automated or manual testing procedures to assess the functionality of software and applications
• Creating documentation of testing procedures to ensure consistency and compliance with standards
• Understanding and promoting the PMOs goals and objectives.
• Escalating discoveries and/or concerns to the Project Manager for evaluation and direction
Qualifications/Skills:
Required:
• 2+ years experience in all aspects of Software Quality assurance testing
• Experienced working with custom, purchased, and SaaS software solutions
• Able to easily adapt to changing circumstances
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Experience in delivering test plans for various SDLC methodologies
• Strong knowledge in change management best practices
• Experience in mapping and tracking test cases to requirements
• Understanding of Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
• Define and roll out new processes based on best practices
• Continuous improvement focus in all aspects of the test planning thru final end to end testing phases.
• Problem-solving skills and the ability to work with cross-functional internal teams
• Ability to proactively anticipate potential issues that may impact the testing phase regarding projects
• Demonstrated ability to quickly learn the organization’s core business process and operations.
• Demonstrated project management skills including planning and organizing.
• Understanding of application development and software development life cycle concepts.
Preferred:
• CAST, CSQA, or CSTE certification is preferred
• Experience working for a manufacturing company with knowledge ERP systems and processes
• Experienced with automated testing software
• Previous experience as a business requirements analyst or software developer
• Information Sciences, Technology, Computer Science, Engineering experience/knowledge is beneficial
• Proven experience in translating any size project testing deliverables
Safety/Physical requirements:
• Ability to sit for extended periods of time
