A DAY IN THE LIFE:
The Software QA Engineer II is responsible for validating non-product software across Tandem. This includes evaluating the software, writing the requirements and test protocols, and completing the test report. As time permits, the candidate may also provide quality guidance and support for software product launch, sustaining engineering software projects, and quality system activities to assure conformance to established specifications. Has a strong understanding of software lifecycle development, quality processes, and risk management activities and uses this knowledge to facilitate the optimization and continuous improvement of internal operations to meet department, business unit and company objectives.

COMPENSATION & BENEFITS:
The starting base pay range for this position is $39 - $45/hour. Base pay will vary based on job-related knowledge, skills, experience and may also fluctuate depending on candidate's location and the overall job market.
This is a temporary position. As a temporary employee you will be employed through a staff agency partner. Benefits during your temporary assignment may be provided by the staffing agency. Access to Tandem sponsored benefits is contingent upon conversion from temporary to regular full-time status. Conversion is determined based upon business need and job performance.

Has a strong understanding of software lifecycle development, quality processes, and risk management activities and uses this knowledge to facilitate the optimization and continuous improvement of internal operations to meet department, business unit and company objectives.
- Evaluate requests for non-product software and perform the validation of non-product software. Coordinate the validation efforts with teams across Tandem and ensure timelines are met and the validation is performed according to quality standards.
- Serves as a Quality representative on software project teams, including for product launch and sustaining engineering software project teams.
- Ensures quality integration into the overall functions of software development, scientific computation, and data acquisition.
- Creates and reviews various software lifecycle project deliverables based on procedural requirements.
- Performs risk analysis and is responsible for risk management activities: determines, evaluates and documents software risks from product design to post-launch.
- Coordinates risk management activities with cross-functional project teams.
- Provides quality support for software project teams throughout the software lifecycle, from design through launch.
- Analyzes test results to ensure existing functionality and requirements are met, and if necessary, recommends corrective action.
- Consults with software development engineers in resolution of problems
- Provides traceability analysis and traceability reports to ensure project requirements have been met
- Participates on the Software Review Board (SRB) to evaluate and disposition software anomalies.
- Embraces the new product development process by participating in design reviews and maintaining design history files.
- Supports other departments as needed and considers project-wide impacts in decision making.
- Reviews and approves CO's as well as provides quality input to support closure (QMS updates, Procedural changes, etc.)
- Provides quality input to Complaint, FA, CAPA investigations and executes corrective actions when applicable.
YOU'RE AWESOME AT:
- Knowledge of web, embedded software, or cloud-based technologies preferred
- Working knowledge of federal and other regulations including QSRs, ISO 14971, IEC 60601.
- Experience with JavaScript, C, Jasmine or other software language preferred.
- Familiar with Good Documentation Practices (GDP).
WHAT YOU'LL NEED:
- Requires a bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Sciences or related field or equivalent combination of education and years of applicable experience.
- 2 plus years' experience working as a Quality Assurance engineer in the field of software for medical devices, or an FDA-regulated industry.
