Job Description
This position is for a senior level Software Engineer supporting the U-2 Avionics Technical Refresh Program (ATR) within the historic Skunk Works Organization. The U-2 ATR team is a diverse set of hardware and Software Engineers working to design, develop, prototype, and integrate cutting edge technologies. The candidate is expected to take and provide technical direction, as well as guidance from senior engineers and execute to completion. A willingness to learn, analyze complex technical information, and the ability to take initiative and ask questions are characteristics that will make the selected candidate successful.
As a senior Software Engineer, you will apply your aptitude for learning and technical skills to solve challenging middleware problems in a dynamic, fast-paced environment. You'll contribute to software solutions with an eye toward commonality and reusability to reduce long-term costs. You will participate in the full development lifecycle, from requirements and design to implementation, testing, hardware integration, through sustainment. Along the way, you'll develop your own software skills, learn how we integrate hardware and software, and build interpersonal relationships with peers to facilitate healthy collaboration and deliver on customer needs.
Basic Qualifications
4-year degree in B.S. Computer Science, B.S Computer Engineering or B.S. Electrical Engineering
Experience with C/C++ programming languages
Experience with UNIX/Linux development environment
Experience with Agile methodologies
Experience with Git, GitLab, and CI/CD concepts
Desired skills
Familiar with Real Time Operating System (RTOS) / deterministic system design
Knowledge of Ada programming language
Avionics experience
Aerospace experience
Experience with virtualization, containers, and container deployment
Experience with Rust, Python
Experience with Open Mission Systems (OMS) and the Universal Command and Control Standards Initiative (UCI) standards
Experience with the networking stack in Linux and/or Windows
Experience integrating software in an embedded hardware environment
Experience with software integration conducted with software from multiple different teams
Familiar with software development process (CMMI Level 3 or equivalent)
Written and verbal communication
Understanding of Software Engineering best practices
Simulations and Trainers experience

Work Schedule Information
Lockheed Martin supports a variety of alternate work schedules that provide additional flexibility to our employees. Schedules range from standard 40 hours over a five day work week while others may be condensed. These condensed schedules provide employees with additional time away from the office and are in addition to our Paid Time off benefits.
Colorado Pay Statement
Pay Rate:
The annual base salary range for this position in California and New York (excluding most major metropolitan areas), Colorado, or Washington is $85,900 - $164,600. Please note that the salary information is a general guideline only. Lockheed Martin considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience, education/ training, key skills as well as market and business considerations when extending an offer.
Benefits offered: Medical, Dental, Vision, Life Insurance, Short-Term Disability, Long-Term Disability, 401(k) match, Flexible Spending Accounts, EAP, Education Assistance, Parental Leave, Paid time off, and Holidays.
(Washington state applicants only) Non-represented full time employees: accrue 10 hours per month of Paid Time Off (PTO); receive 40 hours of Granted PTO annually for incidental absences; receive at least 90 hours for holidays. Represented full time employees accrue 6.67 hours of PTO per month; accrue up to 52 hours of sick leave annually; receive at least 96 hours for holidays. PTO is prorated based on hours worked and start date during the calendar year.
This position is incentive plan eligible.
Premium Pay Statement
Pay Rate:
The annual base salary range for this position in most major metropolitan areas in California and New York is $98,800 - $186,100. Please note that the salary information is a general guideline only. Lockheed Martin considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience, education/ training, key skills as well as market and business considerations when extending an offer.
