What to Expect What You’ll Bring
Position available in each Palo Alto, CA and Austin, TX locations.
The Gateway team is seeking a Software Engineer to design frameworks and infrastructure to test the current and next generation of Tesla products. The Gateway team supports a core component in the vehicle that provides over the air updates to our vehicles.
- You will own the quality of the Gateway, a core component in the vehicle.
- Develop scenarios, test cases and write test code to test Gateway using hardware and software in the loop testing environments.
- Maintain autonomous test and reporting infrastructure.
- Define, gather, maintain and report on performance and health metrics related to the Gateway.
- Work cross-functionally to investigate and validate issues.
- You will own validation sign-off for every release.
- Communicating with developers, mechanical and electrical engineers to proactively identify problems and gaps in test.
- BS or MS in Computer Engineering/Electrical Engineering/Computer Science or equivalent with practical Software Engineering experience or proof of exceptional skills in related fields
- 1+ year of C and Python experience
- Ability to code and debug multi-threaded C and Python code
- Ability to understand, test, and troubleshoot complicated system interactions
- Experience developing tests with reusable code
- Ability to drive problems to solutions across different groups in the company
- Strong communication skills
- Ability to develop test guidelines from specifications
- Experience shipping customer facing software and hardware
- CAN Bus experience highly preferred
- Understanding of revision control software (SVN, GIT, etc.) highly preferred
Compensation and Benefits
Along with competitive pay, as a full-time Tesla employee, you are eligible for the following benefits at day 1 of hire:
$104,000 - $348,000/annual salary + cash and stock awards + benefits
Pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements dependent on the position offered. Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if an employee receives an offer of employment.
