Software Engineer

Performance Designed Products (PDP) is one of the largest accessory companies in the Video Game industry, with expertise in controllers, cases, chargers and gaming headsets across all gaming platforms. In addition, PDP entered into the mobile market supporting iOS and Android devices with a large array of accessory offerings. They afford us the ability to support retail customers worldwide and give us access to opportunities on major OEM projects. With operations in Southern California, China and Europe, PDP maintains a global presence.
Summary:
This is a Software Engineering position for a growing development team. The building of this development team is part of a long-term strategy to create unique, engaging applications for the consumer. These applications communicate with custom peripherals such as game controllers and headsets. They provide the consumer the ability to customize the settings for their peripheral.
The successful candidate will be able to show that he/she is passionate in developing applications for the next generation consoles. This includes but is not limited to the XboxOne and the PS4. If the candidate has shipped an app on any platform that would be great. However, we are looking for a developer that can demonstrate to learn new platforms, programming languages, and SDKs with little supervision.
Responsibilities:

• Write well-designed, testable code.
• Develop applications for the XboxOne using the Universal Windows Platform (UWP) framework.
• Develop applications for the PS4 using the Sony framework.
• Debug, enhance, and own existing software functionality.
• Communicate technical information clearly to inform designers of the technical requirements/limitations.
• Willingness to learn new programming languages and software frameworks.
• Able to self-task accordingly and not require constant supervision.
• Accurately estimate time to complete technical tasks.
• Work directly with firmware engineers in debugging hardware communication protocols.
• Ability to balance time to work on multiple projects as needed.

Required Skills:

• Proven experience as a Software Engineer.
• Proficient in an object-oriented language: C++, C#
• Familiar with a scripting language: Javascript, Python, Perl
• Experience coding interactive applications using a GUI framework.
• Debug other developers’ code.
• Demonstrate you can resolve critical/complex technical problems.
• Experience with the software development life cycle (SDLC) from concept to deployment.
• Knowledge of USB, classic Bluetooth and BLE.
• Mobile APPs development knowledge and experience.

Preferred Skills:

• Developed with Visual Studio IDE.
• Console development experience
• Game engine/development experience
• HTML/CSS design
• Shipped an app on any platform (including mobile).
• Microsoft Azure and .Net Framework
• Likes to play video games.

Education:

• BSc degree in Computer Science, Engineering or relevant field.
