The Technology team provides computing, communications, infrastructure, services, support, and innovations that sustain high-quality research and diverse investment services for institutional investors and private clients. The team also supports AB's employees. Technical roles in our New York City and Nashville locations have a high degree of interaction with our investment teams.
The Operations team provides vital investment-management functions through more than two dozen offices located around the world. It's dedicated to institutional investment-management services, private client administration, fund services, brokerage operations and change agents.
What You'll Do:
The Software Development Summer Intern within our Technology & Operations business unit will be implanting functional and technical specifications provided by business analysts and development managers. Interns will learn both the functional and technical aspects of an application in addition to the languages and frameworks used for construction. You will have hands-on learning, supported by team members, project managers, and formal technology training. Our Software Developers use a wide range of programming languages, so, Interns will have the opportunity to learn and apply a broad range of technical skills throughout the summer. Summer Interns contribute to and learn from AB's innovative use of technology, deep research capabilities, global presence, and breadth of investment management expertise. The flat corporate structure allows Interns to become deeply integrated into the team and contribute meaningfully to investment decision-making early on in their careers.

- Developing an analytics and pricing engine for mortgage-backed securities
- Implementing new quantitative models and enhancement of the portfolio management process
- Developing a system to identify trading opportunities based on new strategies
- Building a bond recommendation engine
- Automating trade processes to reduce risk and maximize efficiency
Summer Interns contribute to and learn from AB's innovative use of technology, deep research capabilities, global presence, and breadth of investment management expertise. The flat corporate structure allows Interns to become deeply integrated into the team and contribute meaningfully to investment decision-making early on in their careers.
What We're Looking For:
- December 2024 through May/June 2025 Bachelor's and Master's degree candidates in computer science, engineering, math, finance, economics, business, or liberal arts
- Cumulative GPA of 3.3 or better
- Must be a U.S. Citizen or Permanent Resident (must be able to work in the U.S. without visa sponsorship now or in the future)
- Candidates must be available to work full-time from June through August
- Selected candidates will need to successfully complete a thorough background check
- It is not permissible to simultaneously take academic classes or hold other employment that will conflict with the internship schedule
- Keen interest in project management, particularly with the scoping of projects, capturing and documenting requirements, and defining use cases, user interfaces, and testing scenarios
- Interest in working with a variety of technologies, including sophisticated web services, Java applications and C++ servers
- Strong computer programming skills
- Excellent communication and presentation skills
- Detail-oriented, ability to multi-task and work in a fast-paced environment
