Job description

AIPSO is a management organization and service provider for various insurance industry groups responsible for administering the residual market. We are a national organization that serves local customer needs. Centralization and standardization are key to many AIPSO services because of the inherent economies of scale and other efficiencies.

However, our organization is based on customer focus and recognizes the need for flexibility in serving customer groups with diverse interests. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Solid foundation in structured COBOL programming and system operating components in order to develop and maintain mainframe applications. Experience with IBM Job Control statements (JCL) to create & maintain JCLs and test program changes.

Identify/Evaluate/Document system requirements in the context of customer needs, business issues and system interdependencies. Code, test, document and arrange deployments for system changes and/or develop new programs to meet/exceed customer needs. Collaborate with users to develop test plans, test and arrange deployments.

Develop an understanding of the industry & business rules of the programs you support in order to assess & code changes, determine impact and estimate work effort. Adapt to change and changing customer requirements. Assume responsibility for solving customer problems and respond promptly to address issues when they occur.

Support multiple mainframe systems in production and keep multiple assignments organized and scheduled. Education: Bachelor's degree (BA/BS) from four-year college or university in Computer Science or related field preferred. Additional appropriate experience will be considered in lieu of degree.

Experience: 4 + years of experience in development & maintenance of mainframe COBOL applications. Skills/Knowledge: Strong knowledge of structured COBOL & IBM JCL. Ability to learn existing IBM mainframe interfaces, tools & utilities (ISPF, SDSF, Max Software, MacKinney).

Ability to identify requirements, if not provided, based on customer input. CICS and/or REXX knowledge a plus but not required. Ability to learn new tools & software (Crawford's ProDesigner software for mainframe report setups that create PDFs and split images into folders, job scheduling software: Redwood's ActiveBatch).

Demonstrate effective problem-solving skills as well as strong verbal and written communication, organizational awareness, and customer service skills. Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office productivity tools (e.g. Outlook, Word, Excel) to manage work.

Ability to multi-task and demonstrate flexibility while maintaining attention to detail. Ability to work independently and interact professionally and effectively in a team environment. Salary Range $70,900 - $113,300/$77,300 - $123,500 Annual.

Actual salary for this position will be determined by a number of factors, including the scope, complexity, and location of the role as well as the cost of labor in the market; the skills, education, training, credentials, and experience of the candidate; internal equity and other conditions of employment.
