Responsibilities Include:

Idaho National Laboratory's (INL) is seeking forward-thinking professionals interested in exploring a technical career as a Software Developer.  To thrive in this role, you'll be able to use professional concepts to solve complex issues in creative and effective ways related to applying computer and software engineering principles, theories, and concepts to develop, deploy and support innovative technical software solutions. 

  • Develop, test, and deploy custom software applications using existing, emerging or newly created technologies for a wide range of government and commercial clients.

  • Support innovative technical solutions to mobile, embedded, desktop and hosted applications.

  • Apply software engineering principles, theories and concepts to complex analytical processes and information display and visualization.

  • Work with program and project management to negotiate and define project requirements, to produce and test designs, and to provide necessary documentation.

  • Give presentations & training, customer interactions, and writing proposals and technical reports.

  • Work with project teams to achieve customer objectives and research initiatives while maintaining schedule and working within budget.

  • Adapt to new technologies and practice scientific problem solving to identify, promote, and develop new technical capabilities that may result in intellectual property, publications, copyrights, patents and increased business volume.

Minimum Requirements:

  • BS in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field and 2+ years of experience, or

    MS in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field and 1+ year of experience

  • Special preference given for prior experience working with the Cyber Security Evaluation Tool (CSET) - Github: https://github.com/cisagov/cset

  • Working knowledge/experience with:

  • C# ASP.NET Core and Angular/TypeScript

  • Experience with GraphQL, RESTful API, and .NET WebAPI

  • UI/UX Experience

  • .NET 5 Core Framework Class Library

  • Source control systems: (TFS, GIT, GitHub, SVN)

  • Object-oriented paradigms utilizing design patterns and proper class design

  • Development paradigms such as: MVC (Model View Controller), Dependency injection, etc.

  • Relational Database Management Systems such as: SQL Server, Oracle, MySQL, MongoDB

  • Relational design to at least 3rd Normal Form

  • Entity Relationship Diagrams

Preferred Experience:

  • Experience working with industry standards e.g. NIST, VADR, CIS, etc.

  • Experience with other development languages

  • Experience with Agile, Kanban development methodologies

  • Microsoft SQL Certification, Oracle PL/SQL Certification, Comp TIA A+, CompTIA Network+, Microsoft Server Certification, ServiceNow Certification, or Azure Certification

  • Must be a US Citizen.
