As a Software Asset Management Analyst you will be responsible for tracking software licensing, initiating and managing software renewals, working closely with identified subject matter experts, including software owners, system architects, system administrators, project and program managers, financial managers, and engineers to ensure software licensing governance and compliance. Your role will be critical in maintaining a comprehensive inventory of Software Assets, identifying cost-saving opportunities and mitigating risks associated with non-compliant software usage.
Responsibilities:
- Collect and maintain accurate Software Licensing information in repositories to address budgeting, software compliance & inventory, contracts, and cost
- Identify savings opportunities through software re-harvesting and license optimization
- Respond to requests from product business owners, end users, managers, and other team members for specific IT Software Asset Management information
- Work with the Product Business Owner(s) to manage enterprise License true-up & reconciliations. Stay informed of new and updated software license models and options for key manufacturer products and communicate to team members
- Assist in risk and cost reduction opportunities and make recommendations to Software Owners and Software Asset Management leadership to optimize the Software Asset portfolio.
Must-haves:
- Bachelor's Degree in a related field with at least 6 or more years of relevant experience
- Higher education may substitute for relevant experience
- Relevant experience may be considered in lieu of required education
- Strong experience with Windows and Microsoft Office lifecycle management and managing 3rd party licenses software
- Understanding and experience with various software licensing models, renewals, methodologies and procedures
- Understanding of how enterprise software licenses are purchased and renewed
- Solid understanding of Software Asset Management principals and best practices
- Detailed oriented with the ability to manage many simultaneous work efforts in a matrixed organization
- Excellent written & verbal communication and documentation skills
- Experience working with software vendors obtaining licensing quotes and comparing options
- Strong quantitative, analytical, problem solving skills, and the ability to accumulate, organize, and assimilate large amounts of information.
Preferred:
- 2+ years experience with at least one SAM Tool e.g. SNOW Software, ServiceNow SAM PRO, or Flexera
- Experience troubleshooting\managing Windows 10 and Microsoft's upgrade cycle
- Experience managing/configuring Microsoft Office
- Experience troubleshooting and configuring workstation hardware
- Experience managing endpoints using latest version of System Center Configuration Manager (SCCM)
- Experience managing mobile devices using an MDM/EMM
- Experience troubleshooting and configuring Dell & Microsoft workstations specifically
- Experience managing/configuring Office 365/Microsoft 365 Apps for enterprise
- Experience managing and configuring M365 solutions
