Social Worker - College of Veterinary Medicine
The College of Veterinary Medicine invites applicants to apply for the position of Social Worker. Under the direction of the Center for Veterinary Social Work's Director, the primary purpose of this position is to lead and oversee Veterinary Social Work Services (VSWS) at the UT College of Veterinary Medicine. This position provides social work care, support, and services to UTCVM students, clients, faculty, and staff, as well community clients.
Typical Responsibilities:
Provides clinical care, support, and counseling as well as drop-in services in the UTCVM. Answers the VSWS Helpline. Leads and oversees UTCVM Animal Loss Programming, including implementing and adhering to scopes of practice; managing clinical issues in an inter-professional setting and according to inter-professional and social work ethics; leading program development to attend to the animal loss needs of UTCVM and community clients; and contributing to program evaluation by maintaining appropriate records.
Interfaces with the entire UTCVM community. Supports and works closely with existing Social Worker who is dedicated to the care, support, and services for UTCVM's veterinary students and the needs of the Office of Academic and Student Affairs. Cares for UTCVM veterinary students as a secondary responsibility.
Provides educational oversight for social work students training in veterinary social work as field students. Provides educational oversight for other educational formats as needed.
Provides educational training for veterinary medical students and professionals in communication.
Minimum Qualifications:
Must be a graduate of an MSW/MSSW program accredited by the Council on Social Work Education. Must be within 3 months of sitting for licensure as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW). Must have experience working with telehealth and technology tools that support clinical practice within a team. Must have experience working clinically with individuals, families, and groups. Must have at least 3 years' experience in a social work setting.
Preferred Qualifications:
Attained LCSW status, experience working in a hospital or other host social work setting. An approved life coaching credential with BCC. Training and/or work performing social work in animal related settings.
