Job Description:
Under the leadership of the Executive Director and in consultation with the Managing Partner, the licensed Oncology Social Worker provides professional clinical social work intervention to patients diagnosed with cancer. This position provides counseling, crises intervention, financial resource information, patient advocacy, and referrals to appropriate community resources for cancer patients and their families/caregivers. This position works within a multi-disciplinary team and serves as liaison for patients/families with medical personnel and community resources. The person in this position provides optimal patient care by utilizing both professional mental health counseling skills and knowledge of community resources to minimize patient stress and maximize coping skills in managing their cancer diagnosis and treatment process.
Experience:
Minimum two years' experience in a clinical social service setting preferred. Must have working-level knowledge of the English language, including reading, writing, comprehension, and speaking (required). Being bi-lingual (Spanish) is a plus. Ability to effectively interact with patients and significant others during times of transition of care. Positive communication and public relation skills. Must have the ability to use the computer to complete online learning requirements for job-specific competencies, access online forms and policies, complete online benefits enrollment, etc.
Education:
Master of Social Work Degree licensed in the State of California.
Knowledge of community resources. Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Outlook, PowerPoint, Excel and Word.
Licensure/Certifications:
Board of Oncology Social Work Certification (OSW-C) preferred. The ability to obtain and maintain a valid California license as an LCSW.
Assigned Work Hours:
Part-time - 20-24 hours per week; Monday - Friday. No nights or weekends.
Pay Range: (based on years of applicable experience):
$48.06 - $67.30
