The Iowa Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) is seeking a Social Work Administrator to join the team at the Glenwood Resource Center (GRC), a facility which offers a continuum of care to Iowans experiencing intellectual disabilities. This is a full-time position with opportunity for advancement, growth, and development. Employees are eligible for a $1,500 retention payment for a commitment of 7 pay periods (14 weeks) and are eligible for renewal at the end of each 7 pay periods until the facility closes. Under general direction of the Superintendent, the Social Work Administrator plans, leads, directs, supervises, and administers the Social Work program and oversees the Social Work services, admissions, and community integrations of individuals served by GRC. This position provides administrative supervision to Social Workers, with responsibilities including hiring, scheduling, evaluating, and providing recommendations for disciplinary procedures. This position also develops and administers policies and procedures for program operations in accordance with applicable federal and state laws and regulations as well as HHC and GRC guidelines and best practices. Other duties include conducting staff meetings, developing or identifying training opportunities, monitoring court orders for consistency with GRC services, and working with the Superintendent, other HHS staff, the attorney general's office, and courts as needed to problem solve and support individuals under care.
The Social Work Administrator leads the facility in monitoring and improving processes for preparation, discharge, and follow-up for transition out of the resource center. This includes coordinating with HHS Mental Health and Disability Services Facility Support and Community Service divisions and other entities to develop new processes, policies, documents, or ways to track data, and developing effective working relationships integral in developing community resources. This position understands and communicates the vision and expected outcomes regarding transition to GRC staff and assists Social Work staff in communicating this information to families/guardians, determines data needed for monitoring and improvement, and advocates to obtain the resources needed to accomplish the work.
Located in southwest Iowa, GRC provides residential services for individuals who have struggled to be successful in the community, gives in-home support for those who transition to the community, and assists community-based providers by providing assessments, training, and other technical support. The goal of all GRC services is to help individuals be successful in their communities.

graduation from an accredited college or university with any Bachelor's degree and experience equal to five years of full-time work in consulting, supervising or evaluating Social Work programs, two years of which were in a full-time supervisory capacity.
