Boston College High School is a Catholic, Jesuit, independent school serving approximately 1400 young men across grades 7-12 from various communities across Massachusetts. SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITES
The Social Studies department invites applications to fill a position teaching global history and United States history courses in grades 9-12 beginning in August for the 2024-2025 school year. The teacher will join an experienced and collaborative department committed to supporting new faculty in engaging students actively in the classroom and promoting high standards for student learning.
Requirements:SELECTION CRITERIA
The Social Studies department is seeking applicants who demonstrate:
- Strong knowledge global history and United States history and experience teaching related courses at the secondary level.
- Commitment to teaching history from diverse perspectives, including varied voices and points of view.
- Ability to teach writing skills within a Social Studies curriculum, following a specified progression.
- High standards and expectations for student achievement and school citizenship.
- A sincere commitment to professional development addressing both pedagogy, Social Studies content, and Jesuit education.
- Knowledge and commitment around diversity, equity, and inclusion practices.
- Commitment to Catholic, Jesuit Mission.
