This is a temporary role. The intended dates of employment are January 2, 2024 - February 15, 2024.

 

General Requirements:
  • A neat, clean personal appearance
  • Be able to work effectively with other staff and volunteers
  • All information regarding clients must be kept confidential
  • Punctual and reliable attendance, with the ability to be flexible in scheduling
  • Ability to work independently and stay on task
Qualifications:

 

Education & Experience:

  • High School Diploma and minimum of two years experience working in a business office setting.
  • Ability to satisfactorily pass a background check

 

Equipment:         

  • Familiar with current Microsoft software computer programs including Word and Excel; email, internet and standard office equipment and systems. Ability to learn new computer software programs.

Skills:                  

  • Business letter writing and report preparation with correct English usage, spelling, grammar, and punctuation.
  • Be a team player

Organization:     

  • The ability to maintain a self-motivated and self-directed schedule; Able to address multiple projects in a time-sensitive manner.
  • Current office organization, procedures, and practices.
  • Detail oriented.

 

Professional

  • The ability to interact with people in a positive, professional manner in conformity with The Salvation Army Mission Statement.
  • The ability to work with people of diverse backgrounds and circumstances.
  • Must possess the self-discipline necessary to perform repetitive tasks without lowering quality of work.

 

Essential Functions:

  • Interview clients to assess their needs
  • Provide services to clients (vouchers, food etc.)
  • Maintain/enter statistics on Social Services Programs and generates needed reports
  • Basic clerical/Office work
  • Answer phones/ receptionist
  • Records gifts in kind
  • Assists with Christmas intake
  • Make referrals to other programs as appropriate
  • Follow-up case work for returning clients
  • Prepare and maintain all client files
  • Provide supervision and direction for other Social Service Program employees and/or volunteers.
  • Other duties as assigned.

 

Miscellaneous:

It is expected that each employee will be familiar with The Salvation Army Western Territory Handbook for Employees.  Questions regarding its contents can be directed toward the immediate supervisor or the CORPS OFFICER(S).

A generous benefits package is included with full-time positions:  paid holidays, vacation time, sick time, and medical, vision, and dental insurance.

 

Health Insurance:  Low bi-weekly premiums for employee-only coverage, Kaiser HMO for those residing in a Kaiser service area, Anthem EPO/PPO is available for those residing outside a Kaiser service area.  Voluntary +1 and +family coverage at additional cost.  Delta Dental DHMO and DPPO dental insurance are offered. 

Life and Voluntary Options.  An employer-paid life insurance policy covers employees.  Voluntary supplemental life, short-term and long-term disability plans are available.

Retirement Plans:  Employer-funded Money Purchase Pension Plan (Defined Contribution Plan) 50% vested at five years eligible service time. Plus, an employee-funded voluntary 403(b) option.

Parental Leave:  The benefit is 40 hours of Paid Leave for qualifying events.

Sick Leave:  12 days of Sick Leave annually accruing from day one, eligible for use after three months’ service time. 

Paid Vacation:

  • Two weeks annually, accruing from day one, for non-exempt positions.
  • Four weeks annually, accruing from day one, for exempt positions.
  • Accrued vacation is eligible for use after six months’ service time.

Paid Holidays:  13 designated holidays + 1 floating holiday per year
