Job description

The Office of Institutional Advancement at High Point University seeks a full-time Social and Digital Content Strategist to enhance High Point University's fundraising capacity by developing, conceiving, crafting and executing messaging and designs to support institutional priorities in engagement and solicitation messaging to various constituency groups.
QUALIFICATION:
Education:

  • Bachelor's degree in Media Production, Communication, Graphic Design, Journalism or related field required

Experience and Training:
  • 1-3 years successful communications experience required, in a university or non-profit marking setting preferred
  • Graphic design experience required
  • Email, Digital Content development and social media management experience required

Knowledge, Skills, Ability:
  • Demonstrated experience with Adobe Creative Cloud (InDesign, Illustrator and Photoshop) and/or Canva
  • Experience and understanding of content creation and distribution via social media management platform (Cloud Campaign), social media platforms (Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, etc.), texting (Cadence Mongoose), website management, email campaigns and video production (Premiere Rush, Premiere Rush, After Effects, Thankview)
  • Ability to manage multiple initiatives projects and priorities in a fast-paced, results-based professional environment while taking on new projects
  • Exceptional writing and editing skills
  • Familiarity with project management software
  • In-depth knowledge of social media platforms and the University's diverse constituencies groups
  • Familiarity with content management systems with working knowledge of web design and HTML/CSS
  • Passion for the mission and values of High Point University

Responsibilities:
  • Creates and manages an effective digital communications calendar in conjunction with the Offices of Family Engagement, Annual Giving, Gratitude and Stewardship and Alumni Engagement;
  • Identifies new engaging and innovative opportunities across digital platforms;
  • Coordinates production, maintenance and distribution of multimedia content for digital outreach and engagement, including but not limited to email, web, videos, text and social media content;
  • Manages email campaigns from setup through production, functionality, distribution and metrics reporting;
  • Develops and implements a communication calendar;
  • Designs and edits a wide range of digital marketing materials such as emails, digital ads, website features and social media assets;
  • Produces creative social media campaigns (i.e.. Facebook, Twitter and Instagram), including writing content and designing graphics to increase reach and impact on followers;
  • Executes and manages paid social media campaigns including target ads to acquire and retain donors;
  • Identifies and leverages social media strategies based on emerging trends;
  • Resolves functionality issues and timely updates of website content including broken links, misspellings, accessibility and issues;
  • Contributes to creative brainstorming and strategy development for new projects, marketing campaigns and storytelling;
  • Researches, write and edit stories about philanthropic impact and donor features;
  • Collaborates and engages with Office of Institutional Advancement and Office of Communications colleagues (i.e., graphic designers, photographer/videographer, social media specialist) in the development of communication and marketing assets;
  • Develops and produces compelling, engaging and authentic video content;
  • Tracks and analyzes social media and web effectiveness using Google Analytics and other tools;
  • Drives advertising messaging and search engine optimization (SEO) performance;
  • Research emerging technologies and leads the implementation of websites, social media and emerging digital engagement pathways (e.g., video, texting, social media, fundraising, etc.);
  • Serves as a brand ambassador by elevating brand across platforms;
  • Ensures all Advancement communications adhere to the universities brand standards.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Accountability:
  • Reports on the effectiveness of various digital communications platforms on a weekly, monthly, quarterly and annual basis;
  • Reports to Senior Director of Annual Giving and Communication.
