The SNAP (Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program, also known as Food Stamps) Outreach Specialist assists outreach efforts to connect Alaskans with food assistance through SNAP.
Essential Job Duties:
1. Answer calls and guide callers through troubleshooting and navigating the public assistance system in Alaska as well as completing public assistance applications with callers.
2. De-escalate situations involving dissatisfied customers, offering patient assistance and support.
3. Use technology including call center software, Microsoft Office and the SNAP online database to conduct data entry, case management, and tracking.
4. Utilize cloud-based programs to improve processes and increase department efficiencies.
5. Collaborate with other teammates to improve backend technology processes.
6. Assist team with administrative duties, as assigned.
- Opportunities to provide outreach and education assistance, depending on ability to maintain flexible schedule.
Qualifications:
- 2 years professional work experience in a related field
- Strong ability to learn and manage various technologies and databases preferred
- Ability to work independently and proactively in a range of settings, both indoor and outdoor
- Ability to responsibly handle sensitive client data
- Ability to interact respectfully with diverse populations
- Strong communication, interpersonal skills, and ability to set professional boundaries with clients
- Possess an excellent attention to detail
- Commitment to the Food Bank of Alaska mission to end hunger
- Valid Alaska driver’s license and use of own transportation for travel a must. Mileage will be reimbursed.
- Previous call center experience or customer service experience preferred
- Language skills significant to service populations are a plus
