Under administrative direction, coordinate and oversee the operation of the Snack Bar a la carte area of the high school kitchen; maintain food service facilities in a sanitary and orderly condition; operate and maintain a computerized cash management system; maintain related records of food and supplies. Coordinate and oversee the operation of the snack bar a la carte area of an assigned high school kitchen; assure proper cleanliness and maintenance of equipment and supplies used in the operation of the snack bar a la carte area; assure compliance with safety and sanitation regulations. Prepare and serve snacks and fast food to students; oversee quality and quantity of food served according to established procedures. Prepare and maintain a variety of reports and records including inventory, payroll, requisitions, and production worksheets for accounting purposes. Perform cashiering duties; operate a computerized cash management system; assure accuracy of cash receipts; prepare and make bank deposits. Estimate and order food and supplies needed for operation from retail food service vendors; stock food supplies; maintain records of food, supplies and equipment. Assign work to snack bar staff and student workers in accordance with established guidelines; train assigned workers in the proper performance of assigned tasks and standards of sanitation and safety. Operate a variety of equipment and machines used in a school cafeteria; arrange for maintenance and repairs of food service equipment as needed.
Requirements / Qualifications Requirements / QualificationsEducation/Experience: Any combination equivalent to graduation from high school and three years increasingly responsible experience in quantity food preparation. Knowledge/Abilities: The successful candidate will have the knowledge of the operations of an elementary school kitchen or high school satellite kitchen; nutritional requirements of school-aged children; principles and methods of computing food quantities required by weekly or monthly menus; and principles and practices of supervision and training. The ability to operate standard cafeteria equipment and appliances; train, lead and assist in the evaluating of assigned staff; and maintain records and prepare reports. Licenses: A valid California driver's license and a driving record acceptable to the District for insurance purposes. Must possess a Food Safety Certificate.
