JOB SUMMARY:
Under supervision, participates as part of a treatment team member and perform rehabilitation and clinical services within the scope of paraprofessional staff.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Under close supervision, participate in individual and/or group mental health counseling to clients and their families.
- Assist in the facilitation of peer support groups, educational groups, and classes for clients.
- Provider peer counseling and self-help services to mental health clients as appropriate.
- Assist clients to develop self-advocacy, communication and empowerment skills, and provide information and education to clients on self-help services and activates.
- Under supervision, assist in determining the health care and wellness needs of clients.
- Participate as an active member of treatment teams, including attendance at staff meetings, case conferences, and other meetings as necessary.
- Attend regularly scheduled in-service training sessions and classes to learn terminology, technique, and application of mental health counseling and treatment.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- High school. Or GED diploma plus the equivalent of 6 months of full-time services experience in nursing, counseling or in delivering other social services which included individuals seeking mental health services Oo successful completion of a training program designed to provided health clients with the requisites knowledge and abilities
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Experience in providing individual, group counseling, and clinical case management in API communities preferred.
- Bilingual/bicultural in an Asian language
