JOB DESCRIPTION
SMALL HOME CREW MECHANIC
Responsibilities:
Installs weatherization products listed in the scope-of-work including but not limited to:
Insulation – attics, walls, pipes, floors, ducts, water heaters, blown cellulose, fiberglass,
rigid foam board, etc.;
Sealant Materials – caulking, weatherstripping, plastic wrapped fiberglass, carpentry,
metal flashing, etc.;
Ventilation – exterior (attics and crawlspaces) and interior (baths and kitchens);
Miscellaneous – installing fluorescent light bulbs, clean refrigerator coils, add/replace
window glass, replace/repair window/door, install waterflow restrictors, change air/steam
valves, etc.;
Housing Repairs and Health & Safety Improvements;
Obtains approval from Crew Chief for any major changes in scope of work;
Documents any deviation of the scope of work (i.e. any changes, additional work performed,
or any specific reason why something was not done according to the original scope or work);
Assist in Post-blower door test and records numbers of the progression towards air-reduction
goals;
Loads and unloads van with all the materials and equipment;
Assists in warehouse material deliveries;
Knowledge of heavy duty tools and ability to work with high technical equipment (i.e. blower
door, heating systems testing equipment, current tester);
Responsible for maintaining toolbelts and equipment issued;
Reports to Crew Chief/ Manager of Operations;
Qualifications:
Required:
Ability to work in high areas (on ladders and roofs) and in confined, dirty spaces;
Ability to crawl into confined spaces (such as a roof captivity);
Understand overall weatherization techniques, home safety issues, and energy conservation
concepts;
Ability to work beyond a written set of instructions (a non-“checklist” mentality);
Must be a self-starter and be able to work without constant supervision;
Basic mathematical skills necessary to make technical calculations;
Professional work habits;
Strong interpersonal skills to maintain client relation as a representative of WestCOP;
Preferred:
Carpentry skills;
Valid NYS Driver’s License;
Some Knowledge of heating systems piping

Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $23.00 - $24.72 per hour
