Small Business CFO Associate

THE POSITION OVERVIEW

As a Small Business CFO Associate with Clara CFO Group you will be able to make a real impact with Small Businesses! Just say no to a stuffy finance job overworking you and overlooking your valuable skills. At Clara CFO Group, we help our clients with financial understanding, analysis, and support. Our ideal clients range between $1-10 Million in annual revenue and are mostly service-based businesses (i.e. Marketing, Engineering, IT, DEI, & Education consulting). Your goal as a CFO Associate is to use your financial expertise and insights to support client accounts and projects.

THE OPPORTUNITY

As a Small Business CFO Associate, you will be using your hard-earned financial credentials and experience to help Small Businesses succeed, without the crazy 60+ hour/week schedule that most accounting jobs require. You are, and want to continue to be, more than just your “typical” accountant, and you love seeing the “big picture” when it comes to running a Small Business. You want to help clients use their financial information to make better decisions and understand what’s happening in their business.

The CFO Associate position is also a pathway to becoming a fractional CFO with Clara CFO Group. During your time as a CFO Associate, you will learn everything you need to know to become a fractional CFO and eventually have a client load of your own. During your time as a CFO Associate you will have ample opportunity to train, learn from other CFOs, shadow meetings, prepare financials for CFO review meetings, and use your financial expertise for client deliverables.

This position can be part-time to begin with the option to increase your workload as Clara CFO Group grows. We see a "full time" role being 30-40 hours a week. We typically hire with a minimum expectation of 20 hours per week.

If you own, or intend to own, your own business and are looking to grow your client base, then this role is not a good fit for you. This is a W-2 employee role.

IN THIS ROLE, YOU WILL:

• Support Clara CFOs by helping with financial analysis, report preparation, initial financial review, and providing insights
• Review past financial information and create forward-looking projections
• Provide recommendations for process improvements and/or accounting systems
• Improve reporting and accounting setup
• Prepare budgets, forecasts, and specific analysis for decision making
• Meet with CFOs and clients as needed to support projects

EDUCATION/WORK EXPERIENCE:

• BA degree required (Accounting/Finance concentration required)
• CPA preferred, but not required
• 8+ years in accounting and/or financial consulting roles including:
• 3+ years in public accounting
• 1+ years experience with Small Business accounting
• 1+ years experience working for a service-based business (professional agency or consultancy ideal)

SOFTWARE USED DAILY: Excel, Quickbooks Online, Jirav, Email, Zoom, Loom, Slack

IF YOU HAVE EXPERIENCE WITH THE FOLLOWING TOOLS, IT’S A PLUS:
Gusto, T-sheets, Harvest, QB Desktop, G-Suite, ClickUp, and Acuity Scheduling
