Job Summary:

IFM is seeking an experienced Slitter Operator to join our team. The Slitter Operator is responsible for operating and maintaining the slitting machine to cut various materials into specific sizes and shapes, while adhering to company standards/policies. Candidate must be able to work in a fast-paced environment.

Job Specific Responsibilities:

• Communicate effectively with supervisors and other team members to address any issues or concerns
• Look for, report, and correct any near misses/unsafe conditions or behaviors as soon as possible
• Accurately interpret work orders for specifications to determine machine set up and material requirements
• Assume responsibility for the quality and quantity produced on the machine, maintaining production volume and efficiency
• Maintain cleanliness and organization in the work area
• Perform miscellaneous tasks as directed by supervisor
• Train others when required
• Accurately and safely set cutting blades to cut material at specified widths
• Accurately label rolls of cut material
• Check available rolls for sufficient materials before cutting new rolls to complete an order or element
• Identify & separate scrap and non-conforming material
• Identify the correct materials needed for slitting per job
• Inspect uncut & cut rolls of material to identify defects, material quality, & accuracy of cuts
• Maintain cutting blades using care in handling, cleaning, and proper storage of same
• Adjust cutting conditions as the slitter is in operation to produce proper cuts
• Adjust machine settings (speed, tension, blade position, etc.) for optimal cutting
• Monitor machine operation to ensure proper cutting and to prevent any issues or defects
• Organize uncut and cut rolls of material on material holding shelves
• Operate bandsaw to cut rolls of materials to desired height
• Ability to apply troubleshooting techniques when confronted with machinery difficulties
• Perform minor repairs and preventative maintenance as needed
• Adhere to company safety policies and procedures, use appropriate PPE, and perform all tasks in a safe manner
• Follow established methods and procedures to operate equipment and identify materials
• Perform daily visual inspection of bandsaw prior to use
• Perform daily visual inspection of slitter and measuring devices for defective operation
• Safely handle/load/unload materials as they are moved from place to place

Education/Technical Training:

• Slitter experience required
• Accurately read a tape measure to 1/16"
• Capable of performing mathematical calculations necessary for slitter set up

Job Specific Physical Demands:

This position requires:

• Continuous standing and movement
• Bending and stooping occasionally
• Lifting up to 50 pounds manually
• Ability to continuously work in an industrial setting with temperature variations
• Push and pull using a hand truck and rolling cart
• Repetitive hand motion, twisting, and arm motion
• Occasional reaching above and below the waist level

Schedule:
Standard schedule is Monday through Friday from 7:00 am to 3:30 pm with occasional overtime.
