Job description

The Unit Leader is responsible for the supervision of cabin counselors and their campers within a specific village. The Unit Leader works closely with the Parent Liaison, Mental Health Professional and Nurse to assist campers with provide a positive camp experience. The Village Leader is a safety sensitive position.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

· Responsible for the general safety and direct supervision staff in village as well as their campers

· Check in with staff and provide constructive feedback

· Ensure adequate supplies and resources are available

· Oversee daily inspection for village

· Submit written performance evaluation of staff twice a summer

· Supervise and participate in all assigned aspects of the campers’ day which includes but is not limited to; camper check-in and check-out; attendance; meal times; activities; and before/after-hours duties as assigned.

· Assist with Trading Post

· Assist with tractor rides

· Attend and participate in Administration Staff Training and All Staff Training

QUALIFICATIONS:

This position requires the ability to supervise and lead a group of campers as well as manage 5-8 staff members. The incumbent must be 20 years of age or older and possess leadership skills that can assist in encouraging and motivating campers. Incumbent must be able to work independently and not need to be micromanaged. The ability to teach songs, crafts, games, stories, sports, and related skills is preferred. Incumbent must show enthusiasm, dedication, responsibility and maturity and have the ability to interact and communicate clearly with campers, parents and staff.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

1. Ability to walk, stand, sit, kneel & bend (including on the floor) for long periods of time.

2. Exposure to communicable diseases and bodily fluids.

3. Must be able to lift and/or assist children up to 50 pounds in weight.

4. Must be able to lift and carry food and supplies weighing up to 20 pounds.

5. Visual and auditory ability to respond to critical situations and physical ability to act swiftly in an emergency

ABUSE RISK MANAGEMENT:

· Adhere to policies related to boundaries with campers.

· Attend required abuse risk management training.

· Adhere to procedures related to managing high-risk activities and supervising campers.

· Report suspicious or inappropriate behaviors and policy violations.

· Follow mandated abuse reporting requirements.

Job Types: Full-time, Contract

Pay: $1,680.00 - $1,820.00 per month
