We are looking for multiple engineers at various career levels (e.g., Responsible Engineer, Design Engineer, Test Engineer) within the Extravehicular Activity (EVA) discipline. As part of a hardworking team of diverse engineers, you will collaborate with the Crew Systems and Extravehicular Activity (EVA) Lunar Transportation Teams to design, develop, perform analysis, procure/build, integrate, and test EVA products. Additional responsibilities include the development of training hardware to support mockups, Human-in-the-Loop (HITL) testing; and flight hardware for EVA Systems, microgravity and Lunar surface tools and interfaces, and EVA Concept of Operations (ConOps) development.

You will work directly with NASA and our National Team Partners as part of the Human Landing System (HLS) Sustaining Lunar Development (SLD) program. You will play a key role in developing the Lunar Transportation system that will return humans to the Moon and extend human presence permanently beyond the bounds of Earth.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of a B.S. degree in chemical, mechanical, electrical, aerospace, or environmental engineering or related engineering field.
  • 1+ years of technical experience in the design and analysis of space systems, preferably EVA, spacecraft, or landers, and experience in leading a team and/or project.
  • Experience across the product life cycle.
  • Familiar with NASA, DOD, or other industry safety, reliability, and quality processes.
  • Familiarity and experience with prototyping and design, experiment design, and test methods.
  • Familiarity with CREO or other CAD tools.
  • Experience working collaboratively in small teams on fast-paced projects.
  • History of developing solutions with partially defined requirements and changing criteria.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to earn trust, maintain positive and professional relationships, and contribute to a culture of inclusion.
  • Proven ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with customers.
  • Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.
  • Ability to effectively use oral and written communication to express technical concepts and recommendations to personnel at all technical and managerial level.


Desired:
  • M.S. in a relevant scientific or engineering discipline .
  • Experience with research and development of one or more technologies relevant to EVA for extreme environments.
  • Knowledge of EVA systems and current technology.
  • Previous experience in certification of Class I Flight Hardware Delivery.
  • Experience with research and development of one or more technologies relevant to EVA for extreme environments that will be applied to the Cislunar and Lunar Surface.
  • Experience with integrating with owners of interfacing hardware/systems and various collaborators within the EVA community to ensure proper requirements are being met.
  • Experience with spacecraft crew systems or Extravehicular (EVA) technologies and architectures.
  • Working knowledge of International Space Station (ISS) hardware, airlock/EMU systems, and operations.
  • Experience supporting real-time EVA/EMU operations, ground testing, and/or crew training.
  • Experience in the development of spacesuit systems, other critical space hardware, or procedures and flight rules for spacesuit system operations.
  • Familiar with human factors as they apply to EVA design and operations.
  • Experience utilizing tools such as Confluence and JIRA.
  • Experience in environmental control and life support, thermal control, or structural and mechanical systems engineering.

Compensation range for on site CO applicants is $69,218- $101,519
